Azuree, Caron Third Man, Muscs Koublai Khan - thanks to a BNer!
In my experience, the average designer fragrance marketed to women is much better than the average designer fragrance marketed to men- especially if one leaves out the sophomoric pink stuff.
Orange, rose, black spices (clove, pepper) with a hint of freshness.
Then the spices become hot.
The dry down is cool and soothing with pleasant, fragrant memories.
Perhaps it could have...
I never understand why decanters do this. These labels often look bad on the decant bottles.
Nothing like a simple handwritten label. Simple, elegant.
This was informative, and made for good reading and a few laughs -thank you all for the posts!
Thanks for these suggestions!
Geranium pour Monsieur is perhaps one that would fit the bill most. I like it but not a fan as such.
However, it's very thin. Need 10 sprays with this one.
A few suggestions -
Van Cleef & Arpels pour Homme
Here we go.
Perhaps you already got your answer, but Dior Homme Intense is by far the more powdery of the two.
Great to have found THAT fragrance- it's a very good feeling.
This is perhaps the most appropriate forum to post this.
Is it a special breed of pineapple that tastes better than the ordinary pineapples we buy?
Can anyone tell me what exactly is a "Royal...
At first I read -
"History is written by the whiners"!
Which bottles? The real ones or the fake ones?
Personally I think the Creed bottles look very elegant, especially the 75 ml size. I feel no need for any change in the design.
Thanks. I second the suggestions Kaern, Diamondflame and Teardrop.
As for the individual reviews, never any balloons please- and thank you!
Very different. But smells somewhat similar at a distance/on other people.
It made yogis out of ordinary gentlemen.
At first I thought we are talking about the board game.
Perhaps Eau des Baux.
Fahrenheit. Always new, always different.
The bottle looks like Patou pour Homme.
That's sheer laziness on part of the posters. Spiritueuse Double Vanille by Guerlain is the fragrance being discussed in this thread.
I have very recently obtained a decant of it, thanks to a generous BNer.
It's good, but nothing great. I'm not a fan of the opening, as the floral note of rose seems a bit at odds with the rest...
:lolk: good one!
Agreed. Love the earlier style Creed sprayers.
From what I know, this variation is due to a change in the pair of hands that painstakingly handcrafts each CREED sprayer using only the finest...
Couldn't agree more.
281, RUE SAINT HONORÉ
Pre- L'Oreal (last version before L'Oreal) -
Another excellent choice would be Dior Fahrenheit.
Thanks for this feedback.
Not similar smelling, but (to an extent) in the same ballpark and much better IMO -
L'Instant de Guerlain pour Homme
L'Instant de Guerlain pour Homme Extreme
Eau des Baux
Histoires de Parfums...
fresh/citrus/light - Hadrien Absolu
one night out clubbing - Polo
romantic/date - Leather Oud/ Aramis
I have heard that the CREED labels are actually sent to the decanters by CREED themselves.
On a side note, I've always wanted to wear the film Goodfellas as a fragrance.
Very good, IMO.
Glad to know you are enjoying it.
I finished off a 75 ml bottle of Terre d'Hermes Parfum a couple of years back. It was good stuff, though nothing great personally speaking.
He he, you don't at all seem to like the site. :D
In fact I also go there mostly to look up the notes or some info that I cannot always find here.
Agree, and there are actually some very nice reviews by people who (I don't think) post here. But one has to sift through all the comments and questions and generally less useful reviews as others,...
Good point, never considered this.
The forums look almost like a video game home screen.
Absolutely agree about the 'debate/discussion' part. It almost looks like people playing Emoticon games- rather annoying.
Actually two days back- smelled Ambre Nuit for the first time.
Gorgeous opening but it lost me from there on. Have to revisit.
SL Arabie is the best IMO!
Where is Love in White?
Perhaps something like Bois d'Argent?
Two more fragrances that might be worth exploring:
Monserrat by Bruno Fazzolari: Tart, fruity, white florals (mainly jasmine), green, summery with a subtle vague rotten fruit skankiness about it....
I also do not get any similarity at all between the two in terms of how they smell.
Thanks for this insight. On the lower side of the price spectrum, the personal fragrances marketed to women are usually much better than the ones marketed to men in my experience.
To the OP, you...
Ralph Lauren Polo
Green Irish Tweed
What is a 'female frag' ?
What if it came in a bottle of Aventus?
What if you decant it into an atomiser?
It's only marketed to women, but is just as unisex as Versace Man Eau Fraiche....
Dolce & Gabbana Light Blue, for a better quality Versace Man Eau Fraiche.
NOT Dolce & Gabbana Light Blue for Men, which is terrible.
I'm assuming you would look past the fact that it is...
I tried the Byredo once and didn't care much for it, while I like Vetiver Fatal a lot.
But most of these vetiver fragrances are not that tenacious.
But then there is Tom Ford Grey Vetiver EdP...
I sometimes go to Fragrantica to find information about a fragrance because it usually comes up first in the search. Sometimes I scroll down to glance at the reviews.
I have observed many...
It's hard to say what works for others, and personally I don't select what to wear based on occasions as such.
Having said that, I would not wear it to an opera, and definitely not to any formal...
Acqua di Gio Essenza.
It will project, but not smell obnoxious.
Depends on the date.
It's okay, not that good. Not very bad either!
Sample it more, and sample more other fragrances. You'll find your answer.
The Chanel Allure Homme series - very average all of them, aren't they?
Allure Homme Sport and Allure Homme Sport Eau Extreme do NOT smell similar, so getting the other one would not be redundant...
Love it, and definitely agree with this.
No Azzaro pour Homme, Paco Rabanne pour Homme, Givenchy Gentleman, Eau Sauvage, Eau d'Hermes, Equipage, Chanel pour Monsieur, Givenchy Vetyver, Van Cleef & Arpels pour Homme, Tsar, Jazz, Loewe...
Thank you so much for this informative post, much appreciated!
I think this fragrance is ridiculously overrated, and it is extremely mediocre.
A clueless fragrance marketed to clueless people.
Or on me. Or on almost anybody, as one can clearly see from the thread.
Never heard of this "Double Arm Aventus Experiment", but I have tried it many times from testers, decants and official samples over the course of three years. Each one of them smelled just as...
0 sprays work best.
This should be in the Perfume Appraisals forum.
Where did you buy the Aventus flacon?
Just buy one fragrance - the original Azzaro Chrome at a discounted price.
Thanks David for your impressions. Will definitely look to sample this one when possible.
While not similar-smelling, Cologne Sologne and most of the Guerlain colognes are good options.
In my experience it's best to look for a good quality traditional eau de cologne than one of the...
Vials= Little, sad, microscopic containers, usually made of glass.
Sample Vial= The said vial filled with tiny drops of nondescript 'precious' perfumes that retailers want you to buy for $5 and...
Michael Jordan Legend is a very nice one.
The metal containers are not as cool as the rubber flasks. :coolold:
I don't know if you have tried it, but Rose by Paul Smith is quite nice. A bit sharp and quite green with a discreet but prominent fresh rose note.
I don't know if you've tried it, but White Patchouli by Tom Ford could be something interesting. The caveat is while one can pick out the peony, the floral notes are in general densely blended....
Most probably will smell like a shampoo.
Thank you, cacio. I have only tried the Patchouli Homme, and it's something I definitely want to have a bottle of. I was wondering whether the Patchouli Intense is much different or not. Thanks again!
Ok, this is what I wanted to know. As always, thank you so much!
Ok, what's your frame of reference?
EDIT: Anyways, doesn't matter. I wish it projected on my skin a third of as much as it does for you.
The current version of Diorella is still very nice.
Either you were wearing something else, or those people must have been high.
In terms of projection, Spice and Wood is as timid as they come, lol.
Starting a new thread since I'm not sure there is an existing thread on this.
Has anyone tried both the versions?
I'm given to understand from some posts in some past thread that in this case...
I think he was making the point that IF Creed made the sprayers removable then that would surely lead to many more 'Is My Creed Fake?' threads.
In my experience, Gucci pour Homme is very meek and subtle. A few suggestions -
Mugler A* Men
Acqua di Gio Essenza
L'eau Bleue d'Issey
Lanvin L'Homme Sport
Bentley for Men...
Agree with this.
