Does any make-up brand produce cake eyeliner any more?

Yes Laura Mercier does a cake liner. Bobbi Brown ,Smashbox and Stila all do cream in a pot ones too. I really like the Smashbox ones as you can smudge them before they dry.

Many thanks, Donna!

None of those brands is available in Finland, though.

Sorry Tiggy.

OK Guerlain have just brought a palette out, which can be used wet or dry as eyeshadow and liner. I saw it today for the first time six shades from golden to black, with little mixing bowl and two brushes.

Donna, I found a Finnish (!!!) online shop which has Ben Nye and Joe Blasco cake eyeliners!

Tigs,

Trish McEvoy and Shu Uemura both make cake liners, which is all I ever use.

You could use a black or dark eye shadow applied with a fairly stiff brush, especially if you use a base on your eyelids that prevents creases, etc. I use MAC Paint shadows Untitled and Stilife, both very light beige/peach colors (not the colors on their site). Whatever you put over them stays put forever although they are beautiful on their own. The tubes are not user-friendly as often a slight squeeze will produce a giant glob. But, I keep a small, plastic pot handy to stash what I don't use because it only takes a tiny dab.

Actually, I think I'll try using a shadow for liner - could give a totally different look.

I sometimes use regular eyeshadow for lining but cake eyeliner is simply the best! I have an ancient black one but would love to get a grey or a brown one, too. Was very happy to run into that Finnish online shop!

Whew, sigh of relief. Glad you found a source because I'm like you - cake is the best. I'ts more natural and it stays put, imo.

Shisiedo has a brow/liner compact with two shades, one for the brows, one for lining. The texture is still powdery, but I like it a lot.

I know you don't have MAC, but they make oen as well. It's a bit on the greasy side, so it can smudge a bit, but I quite like that as well.

Edit: Clinique has one! It comes with a brush and is fairly affordable.

Many thanks, Concord! Both Clinique and Shiseido are available here, must go and check their selection.

Hi!

I've heard that Ben Nye is a good brand. Otherwise, you can use any highly pigmented eyeshadow. I do this when I can't find a cake or cream liner in a color I like. All you need is a drop of Visine (or water) and a good brush!

You're welcome, as always, Tiger! Please let us know what you decide to buy, okay?

I have had trouble finding Cake Eyeliners so thank you for the suggestions...I finally started using the Paula Dorf Transformer which makes any powder eyeshadow into a good cakeish eyeliner. I had the best luck with the Dorf and Stila eyeshadows.

MAC has a cake eyeliner that I like. I also use a slanted thin brush with eyeshadow over it to give it a smokier look.
