Recs. for diy websites?

Hi, I'm completely new to fragrance crafting. I would like to try making some of my own shower gels, possibly a body splash. Nothing too complex, I have a summery rose/mint combination in mind. Do you have any favorite websites you'd care to share that would have information/instructions for newbies?

Thanks much in advance! :-)

Hi Sherrie maybe my yahoogroup: Perfumemaking will help. Here you will find all kind of information and discussions about perfumemaking.

Maybe you will like also my blog about my experiments with perfumemaking.

Another great Yahoo discussion board is Natural Perfumery. They have everyone from newbies to experts there, and everyone helps everyone else with ideas for using natural oils to make perfume, cologne, soap etc.

Fair warning about NP: the list owner seems to place as much emphasis on "natural", if not more, than on "perfumery", and a significant proportion of the members are chemophobes. If your interest is making strictly natural perfumes, you may find the group a valuable resource, but any discussion of synthetic musk, aldehydes, etc. and even synthesized naturally-occuring chemicals (e.g. linalool) is strongly frowned upon, at best.

God, as a perfumer I agree with Xplo... NP is run by a bunch of Nazis. Even discussions about using natural isolates is slippery territory. I was trying to help people with that and finally gave up. To them, EVERY chem is POISON. They are very ignorant as many naturals are irritants or poisonous. E.g. pennyroyal, which smells minty, has thujone in it which causes nerve damage and was once used as an abortificant. But that sort of stuff seems of little interest to them.

On the other hand "perfummaking" is a very sweet site run by Jenny, a Dutch girl. Everyone there is busy learning. I contribute a lot there. It's run by Yahoo.

I wish there were more internet perfume groups for perfume makers. I'm a member of the NP group but I don't post there much. I think with NP it's Natural or Nothing.
I like to use naturals and some synthetics too. I haven't tried very many all natural perfumes that were really that good. To me it's all about the scent.
