Just interested to see who the Kouros hardcore following is here.

Hi 2R,

KOUROS is THE only "Designer" fragrances in my TOP TEN!

SixCats!

Number one for me - but it does vary a bit. Always top 5.

Hi 2R,

Oooh, thank you Sir for your kind words! I do like to think that my collection reflects class and good taste. There are just sooooo many wonderful Houses that one could not only go BROKE trying/buying examples from these Houses, but one could also just go plain NUTZ! As I write this, I am in the middle testing MARLEN's "WAR OF THE ROSES!" I haven't had this much fun with fragrances in a looong time! I normally do not like to test TOO many fragrances at a time but, I wanted to try ALL four today. I have one fragrance on each hand/wrist and one fragrance one each upper forearm for a total of FOUR! I am taking notes of my impressions and I will of course repeat this testing over several times durning the week. Yes indeed, fragrance are FUN! (and smell good too!).

Regards,
SixCats!

I'm new to Kouros, but I definitely like it a lot. Heavy rotation and quite different from my other stuff.

After I re-tried Kouros today (read my latest post on a Kouros turnaround story), I now rank it as one of my Top 3 scents.

It's not #1 (Angel Men will always hold that top spot in my heart), but it's pretty darn close.

Kouros Is The King. Always My Number One

Same here. It's not something I'd wear everyday, but I do always want to have a bottle just in case. Especially for spring and summer, it's a great one to wear when one can't think of what to wear.

Later EDIT: Ironic that I say the above yesterday afternoon and then get a swap offer for it last night. So, I'm a liar... it's going out in favor of some MPG. But, I definitely think another bottle of Kouros will find its way to my shelf by spring.

Kouros is surely my number one!
Top class fragrance

What is Kouros like? I have Body Kouros and not Kouros.
Kouros and Creed's Bois du Portugal are equal no. one, with Kouros (reluctantly) edging in front for versatility.

Do you mean that you like both of these or you think they smell similar? I've never gotten much of a connection between the two, even though I DO think they're both very nice.

Guys, I just bought a bottle of Body Kouros for myself last week. It is so good that I have to have it in my drobe!
Quite reasonable ... I got a bottle of 50ml for USD 22.

Yes Kouros has been my #1 for a couple years but you have to go light on it. I used 2 sprays to the chest yesterday morning and in the car my wife was like you smell good! She doesn't say this with all my fragrances. Kouros is special but gets a bad rep because it's strong and if you use too many sprays it can be offensive.

Number One? No. Number Five? No.

BUT ... the white marble sits proudly in my 1st tier in contrast to multiple bottles clad in black.

Loved Kouros 25yrs ago. Great success with it then. Revisited the fragrance 2yrs ago. Wasn't the same and my Spanish girlfriend thought it awful. Ended up being thrown away. A sad ending!

That IS sad.

Let me speak to her, i'll change her mind.

Kidding; i understand. YSL needs a Korai equivalent. She's ... younger? Substantially? You don't have to answer. Have a good one!

edit: spelling, grammar

I brought this up earlier and got no conclusion, but I thought that since we have quite a few Kouros fans all in one place that maybe one of you could help me out.
Here's my question: Is the Kouros that one buys for cheap at Target different than other Kouros formulations? To me it seems shallower and much less strong. While I have mixed feelings about the juice (the REAL juice that is), I wanted it for a reason. What I got from Target just seems kind of lame. Maybe my nose is crazy.

I just got a 1.6oz bottle of it in the mail rite now - I LOVE IT! Its very different to me from Body Kouros too. I don't smell the urine thing either that i've been reading about.

I'm not sure if I would wear this to class though - its too strong.

Kouros is number 1

For me, Kouros is the #1 worst scent.

It's one of my No. 1 scents, yes. Can't wear it all the time, though, so it shares the top spot with some other scents. But in summer nights or while clubbing, it's certainly my No. 1 choice.
First of all; I have to say that I don't really have a #1 fragrance because it depends on the day on my mood, but there are sure some fragrances that I can not miss. And one of them is YSL Kouros. It may soudn odd, but when I first met with Kouros I did not like it. I did not hate it, but I found it odd. That time I was young and at that time I was used the fragrances like Azzaro, Jovan Musk, Jovan Sexappeal, CD Jules, Denim, CD Eau Savage, Aramis and Kouros was way different than these fragrances. My father had bought it as a new fragrance and he liked it and my mother was fond it too, but it did not mean much to me. I guess it is like getting to know wine, beer or cigar you have to let your experience grow in it. I can still remember my first beer and wine. I did not like them, but now I know what wine and beer is. Now I know better which one I like and which one I don't. It was the same with Kouros. First I did not like it, but on one day I had to go to a night party which was important for me because I was just getting now a nice girl and I would like to influence her also with a nice fragrance. I had a smell in my mind that I did not know what it was. I was getting crazy to find it out, but I had no clue. I was looking at the fragrance shops and departmen stores but I was never getting near to Kouros, because I haven't liked it and never thought that I would like it. Just one day before the party I was again in one of the fragrance shops and a guy beside me had asked for kouros and he had sprayed it. The moment I had scent in my nostrils I was looking around. He was the only customer in the shop who was trying a fragrance. I asked him what it was and he told me that it is Kouros. I though: No way, you'r kiddding me! I gave it a try and that's it! Since then I always use Kouros in special occasions and time to time as a casual fragrance when I feel like to smell it on me, but I have to admit that it is not a fragrance that you can use daily. If you want to use it daily or in a closed place then you have to a be carefull with how much you use, but if it is an open-air occasion, then no need for fear.

That makes sense - Body Kouros is really good on a woman, moreso than I man I think.

Regular Kouros is nice sprayed in the air, I like the initial burst alot, and I love the bottle, but I just can't wear it. Doesn't smell like me, and it just smells gross after a half hour.

for anyone who loves Kouros, I HIGHLY recommend sampling Creed's Orange Spice. I have loved the YSL ever since I was a wee preppy lad tired of the Drakkar Noir'd masses at school. Big brother wore Kouros and in my mind I was a standout from the norm. It continues to be one of my favorite scents, and it continues to polarize people. I wear the YSL at least once a week; I have found that with the O.S. in my wardrobe also, Kouros has become a bit more of a formal fragrance. The two are extremely similar in my mind, with the Creed being a bit more citrusy (and thus, in my opinion, a bit more daytime-y), and the YSL being a bit more musky (and thus, for evening).

In answer to the original question:

No, but I can completely understand why someone would.
Oooh, can a female weigh in here? Kouros is completely unlike any of my other scents, (yes, I wear and adore it), yet captivated me completely. I had no idea it was so well loved!

A little over a year ago I read some reviews in which an elegant older man called it sexy, and a woman said it smelled like a men's urinal. I bought it, untested, on the basis of those two impressions. I was transported from whiff one.

Years ago, I was house-sitting for a well-to-do couple whose exotic menagerie included a ferret. This exquisite animal had the run of the house, which was completely permeated with the scent of its urine. It was a wonderful smell! Fresh, sweet, and herb-y like a honey made from wildflowers. It reminded me, in fact, of Perlier’s Honey Soap.

Many years later, I’m reading “The Emperor of Scent,” and imagine my delight when Luca Turin explains that honey and urine share some of the same chemical compound(s).

Kouros is the sexiest thing in my wardrobe. Kouros Forever!

I LOVE Kouros!

About six months ago I purchased a spray sample and absentmindedly spritzed about 4 or 5 sprays on my arms and wrist. Whoa! Wrong move - Kouros is definitely a fragrance one is advised to sneak up on stealthily. However, It grew on me to the point that I then purchased a mini (again with the stealth), and now I can proudly announce that I ordered a 100 mL "adult-sized" bottle last week.
Unfortunately, I couldn't find hide nor man-hair of Kouros in Kansas City, so I wonder if I could be the lone survivor of the Age of Kouros in these parts. Pity.

Definitely in my Top 5, and as a solitary guilty pleasure (read: nobody within sniffing range), it's my No. 1, hands-down.
