Dark, Mysterious, Seductive, Hypnotic

Which fragrance engulfs the wearer in an aura that is dark, mysterious, seductive, hypnotic...and maybe even borderline evil and demonic?
Tea for Two!! It's smokeyness makes it dark and mysterious. The sweet honey makes it seductive and people are hypnotized by it because it is so interesting to smell.

Voleur de Roses

Absolutely no question. Very mysterious and dark!

I`ll second Tea for Two and M7.

Also: Body Kouros, Salvador Dali PH, Opium PH, and perhaps suprisingly; Michael Kors.

As I thought about this, I realized many scents that I find to be dark and mysterious are oud scents:
Montale Oud Cuir d'Arabie
Montale Attar
Montale Black Oud
MPG Soir d'Orient

Then, to a lesser degree, the incense scents come to mind, as well as a couple ambre and/or musk scents:
YSL Body Kouros
Balenciaga PH
Montale Greyland
Lutens Ambre Sultan

And while I wouldn't call these "dark," they do seem menacing in some way:
Czech & Speake no. 88
Malle Noir Epices
Lutens MKK

Esencia Leowe. It's like you're in an old moldy vampire basement or something.

Have you smelled Montale Black Aoud? It's somewhat similar to Voleur de Roses, but Voleur de Roses is light compared to this one!

There are other deep dark ones in the Montale line: Attar is another example (Mysore sandalwood, Bulgarian rose, and agarwood). Not evil exactly, but deep and mysterious, yes!

Thanks to Vijay, I got to try this one out. Black Aoud reminds me more of Iquitos than VdR - granted, both are rose scents, but I agree with JaimeB - Black Aoud is darker than VdR to my nose. It also has a leathery quality, which somehow makes it work better for me than either of the other two I mentioned. If I had to describe it, I would say it's a dark, deep leathery scent with a musty, dank rose note. Whereas VdR reminds me of wet gardens after a rainfall, Black Aoud brings to mind somewhat evil things for me - like being strapped to the wall of a vampiress' dungeon, or something dark and gothic like that.

Attar doesn't strike me as "evil" in the same way, but certainly is exotic and complex, a bit dark, but in a mysterious way.

I agree on m7, envy (to some extent) but not tea for two. I think its more cozy and yummy than menacing. Above all, I concur with the MONTALES. I just got a sample batch from Vijay, and I gotta say, dapper super-villains in hollywood movies must have whole caches of these.
Gucci PH, Dior Homme & D&G PH. M7 would be good too. Envy is prolly too green to be dark.
Well, anything from the Comme des Garcons series of Incense, specifically Zagorsk or Ouarzazate, seems to fit the bill.

VdR seems to be all of the aforementioned adjectives, but not too dark. More poetic than dark. Same with Ungaro III.

Gucci PH, M7, Body Kouros, Bulgari Black, Antaeus and Egoiste are good ideas as well.

I feel that Guerlain Vetiver is a little dark and mysterious. Mitsouko too.

fantasy scent:
it would have to be something with a predominant incense note and vanilla honey lurking in the background

incense, guaiac wood, sandalwood - for the dark feel
sour cherry, bitter almond - for the hypnotic
Honey, vanilla, amber - for the seductive
honeysuckle, agar wood, precious woods, myrrh and violets - for the mysterious

and last for the evil/demonic feel (even though I personally wouldn't) raw dark leather

I'm not so sure about 'evil demonic', but I find the following dark, mysterious, seductive, and hypnotic.

Musc Koublai Khan

Must De Cartier Pour Homme

Body Kouros

Wild Amber, Royal Amber, and Indian Special Aloeswood all by Oriscent.
I think these qualify as dark, mysterious, and seductive:

- No. 88 by Czech & Speake
- Tabac Blond by Caron
- Antaeus by Chanel
- Ambre Sultan by Serge Lutens
- X by Clive Christian
For ' Dark, Mysterious, Seductive, Hypnotic. I'd vote for M7 but in my opinion that does not mean that it's even remotely 'borderline evil and demonic'... for that category I would only throw in Boss No. 1 (NOTE ALSO that Boss No. 1 is not! in any of the: Dark, Mysterious, Seductive, Hypnotic...categories no, Boss No. 1 is only evil and purely demonic.
I agree with black aoud. By man is mysterious and seductive too
post #39 of 43
Andy Tauer's Lonestar Memories.
It's an amazing smoky/leathery fragrance with excellent longevity/sillage, Notes according to Luckyscent: "Geranium, Carrot seed, Clary sage, Birchtar, Cistus, Jasmine, Cedar wood, Myrrh, Tonka, Vetiver, Sandalwood."

Lots of good suggestions. Here's one that hasn't been mentioned yet:

Jacomo de Jacomo.

Oh, fragrances! I thought you were talking about me . . .

Let's see:

1. Antaeus

And for the rest:

Bulgari Black (Easier to get than say, MKK, so there's a bit of snobbery against it but YES!)
Muscs Kublai Khan (Of course)
Salvador Dali PH (Where did I put that sacrificial onyx dagger? Get edt strength though, the weak edc sucks)
MpG's Santal Noble ( IF you add the adjective 'regal', as well)

And I'm glad Steve mentioned Jacomo de Jacomo--not certain whether it would be Dracula or Van Helsing that would wear it but definitely for those cold, rainy days in the Transylvania forests . . .

Cheers,

Mario.

No doubt!

Boucheron Jaipur homme.

Davidoff's RELAX isn't that dark, but certainly is mysterious, seductive, hypnotic.
