Thread Starter
Brand: John Varvatos (Zirh/Shiseido)
Name: Varvatos Vintage
Nose: Rodrigo Flores-Roux (Quest International)

Family: Aromatic Chypre
-top notes of Moroccan coastal plants, rhubarb and quince paste.
-heart of oakmoss, patchouli, balsam fir and floral notes.
-base of rare woods with tonka beans, tobacco and suede.

The designer's new seasonal scent is described as having a "darker and (more) gentlemanly-like" feel than the first. Launch August.

Wow those notes sound great. Funny I'm so intrigued as I just finished a rant on how misleading and unhelpful pyramids tend to be. Still, def looks like it's worth a try, though I'm not much of a fan of the regular Johnny. Somehow I have a really good feeling about this one. Damn you effective marketing!

I just got the orriginal. I havn't worn it yet but I know it is going to be an amazing experience. Suede seems like a strange not to have but I just JV to make a good cologne. ;D

does anybody else get an unlisted vetiver note from the original? there is a sharpness going on that i can't account for in the pyramid...

I'm looking forward to this one also.

My first sniff of the original left me underwhelmed, but I got it on the second try and bought a bottle. One of the better mainstream releases recently.
