Tried it in the Singapore Duty Free. Kinda "blah" in an overly sweet way.

I agree. It is strong, treacle-y, and heavy. Although launched in 2001, it smacks of an 80's style oriental. It brings to mind Givenchy Pi which I much prefer. Manufactured by Parfums Llewelyn (Indianapolis, IN). Out of production and outrageously expensive (check eBay while sitting down).

The bottle is interesting:

Slants back on a triangular base. See the "stardust" embedded in the clear plastic cap? I am happy I found the bottle I have because, well, my name is Griff and I am a scentaholic ("Hi Griff!&quot

I haven't tried the woman's version.

Tried this but found it very uninspiring, sent straight to the charity shop, someone else needed it more than I!

Stardust reminds me of fresher and more modern, effervescent version of Old Spice. Stardust has a powdery floral quality strong of what I pick up as carnation, a mellow spice accord with a strong note of fresh sage, and a touch of sweet amber on a base of dry woods. I wear it to the office a lot in the summer and my wife loves it on me. While it definitely is not a yawner, it still doesn't warrant such a hefty price tag.

Wow!

I expected at least one rave review this time around on Stardust.
I love it, but it seems that its supporters haven't come to its defense
yet.

Anyway, it's a top-five fragrance for me, as the Mexican Lime and
nutmeg lasts throughout the drydown. It just smells so luxurious.
I don't get the comparison to Givenchy Pi at all, but Griff undoubtedly
has a more well-trained nose than I.

I wouldn't spend $350 on it, but it is extremely nice. You might search
the archives for Stardust. I posted on this earlier, as did Ali and a few
others.

I still have an unopened 100ml bottle sitting in my place that I picked up
at the Nordstrom at San Francisco Shopping Centre for around $100. Maybe I should
go to Ebay and make some profit.

Despite the general tone of this thread, I do think it is one of the
finest men's fragrances I have ever smelled.

Look for a decant or a sample.

it was ultra sharp and bitter on me. it does have a small devoted fan club here. i could never pull it off though. that being said however, it's interesting and worth a try in the very least.

Hi Trumpet_guy,

On second thought after a re sniff out of the old Monclin (yes, I made one), it isn't so much like PI as I thought at first. It's harder than I first thought to nail down a comparison. It is way too heavy on the sweet citrusy end for me.

And I protest. I probably have the LEAST trained nose on this forum. Promiscuous, yes, but hardly expert. I am amazed at the aroma skills of some of the REAL experts on this board.

No, that would be Tabac Blond from Caron's urn in the same general price range.
