Intersting Surprise in Gaultier2

I managed to get samples and decants of the frag from wonderful people here in the forum, primarily from the recommendation of Duxie.

The Directory describes it as comprising mainly of amber, musk, and vanilla, quite a simple offering EdP marketed as unisex.

After extensive ponderance, I realized this was a heady and simplistic version of Joop! Homme. Yes, Joop, the bane of the forum!

With this discovery I tested the two side by side, and lo' and behold, Joop wins in composition to my nose, the honeysuckle, orange blossom, and woody base taking the edge off of what would be G2 without the added complexity in Joop's composition. G2 definitely headier, candylike and syrupy, Joop livelier and sophisticated in astonishing surprise.

Those who hated Joop will probably hate G2 even more! I'm luckily a fan of both, nothing like the impression of brash and smouldering sexuality and being carefree!

Don't forget to brush your teeth after wearing either of these scents!

Joop! Ah no!!! My nose!!! It burns!!! ;D

In all seriousness, I happen like Joop as well and I'm pretty surprised G2 smells like it.

A Joop copy? Who would've thought? When does G2 become available in the states?

According to the local JPG rep, it comes out in March (initially at Nordstrom, Sephora, and Neiman Marcus).

On me, nothing but the vanilla reached my nose.

;D ;D ;D
Though both can have similarities in the drydown, at first sniff they start pretty different to me...
Moreover I cannot detect bitter almond note of Gaultier2 at all in the mighty Joop.
