Fresh Colognes

Thread Starter
Hi All,

Looking for suggestions for long plane trips ~ 7-8 hours. Doing multiple trips in the next few weeks. What should I wear? Something fresh, long lasting and not going stale or sour. I know what I don't want ==

NO grandma eau cologne frags or derivatives (mugler, OV etc.)
NO citrus (bergamot, orange, lime, lemon) based frags
NO tea based frags
NO orientals (semi or full)
NO fougeres
NO pine

The only thing that has me going hmm... is Jack black Blue (Japanese juniper, ginger, vetiver). Any other freshening colognes you can suggest?

Cheers,
-S

Perhaps Sisley Eau de Campagne:

And the other day I tried Starwalker from Mont Blanc. Despite of its rather stupid name -and the reviews at basenotes- I find it a non-offensive, wearable scent, which doesn't have anything from your list.

L'Homme de Coeur! Fresh yet interesting blend of juniper, angelica, iris, violet and ambergris. Fits your description perfectly.

If you've ruled out fougeres, orientals and citruses that only leaves fresh non citrus chypres like 212, Dune or Michael Jordan Cologne. Try them.

It seems like I recommend this one almost everytime, but I find it extremely versatile: Odeur 53

wow, that's certainly a very restrictive list...
how about Blv, XS, Dune, Boucheron EDT, Kenzoair?

I'm pretty sure that his list said NO Fire Energy based frags. ;D

You recommend it a lot, but with great reason. It's a great skin scent that is closest to the "fresh out of the shower" smell that I've encountered. Thanks for turning me onto this frag.

How about Geir? or is that considered an oriental? to me it's all Fresh flowers, grass and woods... personally I wouldn't mind sniffing Geir for a 7 hour plane ride :-)

Duel has tea and citrus notes. How about Tommy T?

I rediscovered Zanzibar lately, and trust me, it's so well done. Ultra fresh with a killer spicy edge.

CDG 3, CDG Cinnamon, Creed Vetiver (1948), Creed Baie de Genievre. Not sure I'd call the last one fresh in the beginning (the drydown kind of is), but if you are enjoying juniper with vetiver it's definitely one to try.

What about Dunhill Fresh?
Although I think that "fresh" and "long lasting" are not compatible, this one seems to fit.Not much sampled /loved around here though.

Does Diptyque Philosykos fit into the required criteria?

Bulgari Aqua. Very fresh scent, imho.

I thought of this last night:
Carven Vetiver. Need to spray a lot though (there is not a lot which comes out of the sprayer), and lingers very close to the skin. Dirt cheap though, and won't offend others on the plane. You can spray something like 20 sprays of this and not offend anyone.

Surprised someone hasn't said Himalaya.

I'll recommend Guerlain Anisia Bella for the flight trip...

And jumping off the recommmendation subject, I was really impressed with the aftershave that Lufthansa provides on their planes. Does anyone know what it is, or is it exclusive by the company? Wish I had a few more unopened bottles of it.

I'd say Canali.

Since it is definitely been on my mind (and in my nose) for the last 24 hours, I suggest Gendarme 20...

It is definitely "none of the above" on your list of "don't wants" and it is fresh and clean and long lasting.

Geir would be another good choice though it isn't as long lasting as you might need for a long flight.

I also agree with Johnny_Ludlow's suggestion of L'Homme de Coeur but that one is not easy to find if you don't already own it. I have only been able to purchase it off the divine website.

Wow, I'm glad you like it that much. I'm kind of suprised it works well with your stealth skin type.
