Favorite NON-SWEET fragrances

What are your favorite non-sweet fragrances? Â*I enjoy the sweetness of some scents, but tire quickly of the vanilla or tonka been drydown of a lot of colognes that start out sharp and spicy. Â*Do you have any favorites that stay spicy, sharp or woody without getting too sweet on the drydown.

Mine so far:

Creed Vintage Tabarome
Creed Tabarome (new) - completely different than vintage, starts out citrusy and a little sweet, but drys right down
Chanel Antaeus
Probably others that don't come to mind right now

I agree with Antaeus, I have an urge to buy this fragrance, oh my I did promise to be good!

My first two favourites - Baldessarini Eau de Cologne Concentrée and Creed Green Irish Tweed - may be considered lightly seet by some... but the dry-down of Baldi is very manly with patchouli and tobacco and the same goes for GIT, it speaks utter masculinity.

If you consider my third all-time favourite - Yves Saint Laurent Rive Gauche pour homme - I guess you can't find any sweetness whatsoever in there... it doesn't get more manly with this early 80's retro power house scent! 8-)

I don't know if there's anybody who'd consider Bois du Portugal by Creed sweet, but that's another marverlous, manly and highly original non-sweet scent for me.

I forgot Creed's Cuir de Rusie & NO.88 by Czech & Speake.

Antaeus and Cartier Santos Concentree. I'm expecting to like Bois de Portugal just as well when it gets here.

Yatagan by Caron...wood and spice and everything nice.

Drakkar Noir

Gucci PH. It's as dry as they come.

I find Bois du Portugal spicy at first, then pretty sweet in the end, but a phenomenal scent regardless - as is . Â*Don't mean to start a Creed fest here, but I think that Epicea is nice and dry, if not too short lived.

I am getting Envy and Rive Gauche next week. Â*Hope they work out. Â*

How 'bout that Gucci pour Homme? - works good, huh.

I second Rive Gauche

I would say Gucci PH but some vanilla does show up later in the dry down - still a wonderful fragrance though.

Un Jardine en Méditerranée comes to mind immediately as a great example of a frag with almost no sweet components to it. L'Artisan's Vetiver is a dry vetiver that I can actually handle. A lot of other dry vetivers are too intellectual for regular use.

Eau des Îles by Maître Parfumeur et Gantier
L'Eau de Navagateur by L'Artisan Parfumeur
Spezie by Lorenzo Villoresi
Jaisalmer by Comme des Garçons
Original Vetiver by Creed
Timbuktu by L'Artisan Parfumeur

None of these are sweet on me though others may find differently from what I have read in the reviews.

Can't find ANYTHING drier than Rive Gauche - pure woods....

Trussardi Uomo! Not a hint of sweetness.
I'd second Antaeus for sure.

I find No. 88 to be very sweet, actually! Great, though.....

Worth to mention Zanzibar - great silllage without any hint of sweetness.

Shiseido Basala

Consider:
Bulgari Pour Homme
Ungaro I
Crabtree & Evelyn Sandalwood
Equipage or Monsieur Galimard (I have EDT, I haven't tried EDP)
L'Occitane Vetyver
Nautica - Latitude Longitude

Whitebar's suggestion of Lorenzo Villoresi - Spezie is inspired.

Knize Ten is kind of sweet but not cloyingly so; a very nice balance of a touch of sweet & a bit of spice.

You might start looking at some citruses which have some duration, they usually don't remain sweet. Habit Rouge might be up your alley with the combination of citrus and spice.

You might find Tabac Original a bit too sweet, but consider Tuscany Per Uomo for something sharp... but I think Tabac Original is way better with superior duration, even with the sweetness.

Loewe Esencia - great dry chypre

Off the top of my head, and considering that the operative word is Â*"favorite."

I'd say:

Guerlian Vetiver
Vintage Tabarome
Jacomo de Jacomo
Joseph Abdoud
Francesco Smalto
Salvador Dali PH
Versace by Versace
Peau D'Espagne

Cheers,

Mario Â*8-)
