What do you guys think of Etro fragrances? Â*

IÂve already been smitten by Shaal Nur and Messe de Minuit. Â*Now I have my nose turned to their Sandalo and Patchouly. Â*There is something about this line that fascinates me- the subtlety perhaps?

I own Heliotrope and have samples of Messe de Minuit and Magot, all are wonderful. I can't wait to try out a few more from this house.

Shaal Nur is easily one of my favorites--I love its development through the day. MdM is quite remarkable for its originality, while I find Ambra one of my favorite ambers with a soft blending with vanilla.

Well, I only tested 2 fragrances: Messe de Minuit and New Tradition... The first one is toxic waste and the second one is nice, although I think It's too powdery.

I love their Sandalo (Etro), my only complain is that it is extremely subtle and has poor longevity (I think this is a truly Cologne concentration). How I wish that they could make another version (maybe an EDT) with the same scent but stronger and with a better tenacity...

I love them. Unique works of art. Very subtle, as you said.

If the world perfumery had to simmer down to a list of a few names, Etro would be one of them.

The Vetiver is pretty nice . Light, with woods and just a hint of tobacco.

Thanks for your thoughts...

The Sandalo IS really fleeting- the biggest reason I'm hedging on buying it I guess. Yet, there is this note in there- kind of like the way a room smells the day after you've burned a lot of really great resin incense in it. Not really smoky or resiny- but the gentle, after-effects of both together. That's what gets me about the Sandalo.

I've heard both the Vetiver and Ambra are good- yet to try those. For an amber fragrance I'm pretty stuck on SL's Ambre Sultan though. I'm unsure about the Heliotrope as most heliotrope fragrances are kind of iffy on me.

I read somewhere that Jacques Flori created Shaal Nur and some others in the Etro line. Does anyone know anything else about him- other fragrances he's done? Seems like he has a very unique imagination.

Have only sniffed/owned: Messe de Minuit and Magot...
...both are five stars!

Gomma has been on my "to try" list seemingly forever?!

I really like MdM and Gomma, a subtle leather. Great to layer over other things if that's your thing. I'm thinking of getting a bottle.
