GFF Gianfranco Ferre

I just bought a bottle of Gianfranco Ferre's GFF very cheaply.

I like it, but it is a bit weird, it starts off totally masculine then transmutes to something unisex, or even a tad feminine.
Interesting to see that this characteristic doesn't just occur in niche scents, I'd never come across it in designer scents before.

It's certainly very different from his unambiguously masculine Pontaccio21

I like this one but not enough to keep in a very crowed wardrobe; it's on my swaplist.

Still, it's a nice frag that doesn't get a lot of press.

Do I hear crickets chirping in the background?

I'm wearing this one today, and it certainly smells better in the wearing than in the testing on my wrist.
I'm a sucker for aldehydic scents (they stimulate my nose), and this one is mildly aldehydic unlike say the more strongly aldehydic Perry Ellis 360º.

Also, with this reply, I think I've just made the most one sided discussion thread in Basenotes history.

GFF is a very complex and underrated scent, IMHO.

Cool soapy citruses graduate into the warm and vulnerable heart. Do not expect much sillage from this one, but give it a few hours and you will understand what I mean: it is not a chypre wanna-be, it is an independent Snow Queen with emotions to melt your roughness and aloofness away. Well-composed, for sure, and I am glad that you are giving in to its charm.

Cool soapy citruses ..........

I wish I had your nose, and your ability to describe what you've smelled - your comments are a pretty good description of part of what I'm smelling, and I'd never have been able to describe it as such.
