Personalized fragrance?

Hi guys,

A friend just sent me the address of a shop here in Antwerp (www.parfumeur.be) where they let you explore a large variety of notes and then help you to create a personalized fragrance in EDT or EDP strength (even douche gel and body lotion). The concept is founded by Jean Patou, who is not unknown to most of us.

I'm going to check it out this afternoon because I'm curious to see what scents would match my personality. To be frank (... 'can I still be Garth', for all you Waynes World lovers), this seems a bit like horoscope-practices and astrology but that's not issue here.
I was wondering what I could expect from a fragrance that's created on the spot because I can imagine that scents like Habit Rouge, Caron pour un Homme, Piper Nigrum and other heavyweights, weren't created in one day.

What's your opinion on this?

I explored a website where this man who lives in New York does this for a living, and for $300 (I think) there is a process where it includes an initial meeting to get a feeling you your likes and dislikes, your lifestyle, etc., you smell some pure essences, and you get a bottle of perfume with the package. This price however gives you a scent that has only 2-3 notes in it. The price goes up as the complexity goes up. Can you imagine what something complex like Habit Rouge would cost if this guy made it exclusively for someone?

There's a place on the Plaza that does this, I think. I've only gone in to look @ their candles & such. I don't know if I could pinpoint certain notes & have them create something for me. I'm still learning what I like & what I don't like.
