The smells of fall. :)

Thread Starter
I love fall. It's my favorite season!!

I love pumpkin and apple and the smell of leaves falling. Cool air smells better than hot air. And fireplaces can be lit up again, warm food is served.

I pull out everything pumpkin and cinnamon and pecan and apple scented in my house around this time of year, but that's mainly candles, incense and room spray. But certain fragrances just say fall to me, and this is their time to shine!!

What fragrances define fall for you?

Yang smells just like pumpkin pie to me, so that's definately on the fall must-have list. Hanae Mori EDT is very fall to me as well: initial blast of apple pie, then it moves on to a warm gourmand blend. The EDP version is more winter than fall on me, it's deeper basenotes make it a lot warmer and the chocolate doesn't give off a fall feeling as much as the EDT.

Ditto.
Also Anthracite.
And Yves Rocher's Nature Millénaire, although I swapped it.
Hmmm, Mechant Loup seems to fit the bill according to the fragrance description, Bel Ami I think might still be too heavy for fall, how about Brit?
My fall arsenal stands at the ready:

Burberry Brit, Hanae Mori EDT, Opium PH EDP, Gucci Pour Homme, Bel Ami, M7.

Mmm...Fall and Winter. Time for sweaters, scarves, warm weather hats, and the BEST seasons for perfume! I am looking forward to being able to wear Mitsouko under the collar of a wool sweater - cinnamon/peachy/moss goodness!

I tend to like the heavier, more spicy and leathery men's scents, so bring on the cooler weather and the orientals on men. Love it!

Couldn't agree more. I think that Mechant Loup is almost fall in a bottle. I also think that the John Galliano room spray from Diptyque with its smokiness is in great sympathy with fall.

Casran by Chopard for me

Geir and Envy for me, although I find Envy suitable for any romantic night.

Chanel Allure is a good choice for fall. [smiley=thumbup.gif]

M7 will be my fall staple<

I can hear the cries from the peanut gallery already...here comes pavneet with his Caron recommendation. However, I do think that this carries more universal resonance. L'Anarchiste and fall go hand in hand; I couldn't imagine one without the other.

Cheers.

If Rocabar had more staying power it would be my #1 fall fragrance. I´m also fond of Mémoire d`Homme since it reminds me of bonfires the way that it smells when you walk by houses with chimney smoke coming out. Oh and Gucci Rush!! Maybe Zagorsk or Avignon?? And definitely Bel Ami. Now I´m really happy that summer is over!!

These have sparked some ideas!! Mechant Loup is DEFINATELY fall.

I'd also add PIPER NIGRUM to the list of scents for fall.
Speaking of fall, I found a great oil by Green Lady Soap. It's called Woodsmoke and it smells goooood.

I like spicy fragrances for fall. I think Opium is a great fall fragrance.

So many others, I'll have to check and post here again.

L'Instant de Guerlain pour homme---will get extra use

I love this time of year. In fact I spend all year waiting for this time between mid September and Christmas. I love the smell of rotting leaves, wood smoke, crisp cool mornings and the colours of autumn. Lancome's Balafre, Carven Homme, the rustic Monsieur Rochas and above all Trumper's Eucris all come into their own about now!

I actually find Chic and Tabaróme Millésime quite similar to each other. One more mature and refined than the other though, but still... Good pics though.

There are so many scents I've bought since spring but had to wait for fall to wear that I don't just think of smells for fall, I think of whole plans for smells of fall.

I'm going tobacco overload this fall. The two Creed Tabaromes, Puig's great Quorum, and the magnificent Feuilles de Tabac by Miller Harris. I've got another couple tobaccos I can't remember just now. They're going to get play, oh baby.

I'm also doing "the 'men' thing." It has been a while since I've delved into the scents with names of just "men", "pour homme," "uomo." So now I'm going to play them off each other. Perfumers are so direct about what a man should smell like that they tell you in writing on the bottle: This one is for a man, sir! Lineup includes: Lorenzo Villoresi's Uomo, Patricia de Nicolai's Pour Homme, Trussardi's and Fendi's Uomos. Interesting to note as I write this that almost all of these are Italian. Interesting.

I'm also looking to get out some just plain heavies. Salvador by Salvador Dali is a heavy and so powerful it makes me thirsty when I smell it. I don't know why it works that way, but it does. Kouros is another heavy I'm going to lift.

There are others I've gathered but not been able to wear. CdG's Zagorsk and PdN's New York for example.

A bunch of Creeds on the list too: Santal Imperial and Royal English Leather foremost.

Diptyque's Eau Trois is going to get plenty of play as well.

Also I plan to try living in the Jickies: edt, edp, MdM, and Lavande Velours.

I hope it is going to be a long, long fall.

Autumn is my favourite season, too. This is a great time for Chypres, any kind of Chypres, but especially fruity and leather Chypres, like Mitsouko, Femme, Y, Le Parfum de Thérèse, Cabochad, Bandit...
Michael for Men is a fall classic. The first few weeks of fall will get some wearing of Michael. I also have to add my praise of Mechant Loup, and add Voleur de Roses too. I'm gonna get both of these soon. I have some Goth Rosary scents that i'll be wearing too.

Oh, also one of my new favorites for fall is Jo Malone Amber and Lavender. It's really dry and smokey. I'll probably wear this one later today.
Not a hint of fall in the air here so far. I've been waiting so long and it just keeps going long hot summer.
[smiley=sad.gif]
There are so many scents that wait cooler weather but by the time Autumn finally sets in around here it will be Halloween and nothing serves it up better than Lucifer No. 3. Perfect for an evening roll with your beast under the lunar glow amidst chilled fury of bloody and pumpkin skinned leaves adrift through shadow smudged funeral monuments chased by the eye smeared wind.

Weather is still ok here, but I'm lookin forward in wearing New York and Baladin (a real herbal fall scent to me). Also lookin forward to Dior Homme And Dior homme Eau Noir for cold winter days.

Scentemental I'm surprised you like to wear Carre d'As in cold days. It's a warm weather scent to me. (At least, I THINK it is, haven't tried it on a cold day yet)

Amber, honey and roses: a great trio for fall... I would augment the selection with wood and smoke, for example either Gucci Pour Homme, Rush or Comme des Garçons 2 Man.

[blue]Eric,

It depends what you mean by warm weather. For most of the summer where I live temperatures reach highs in the upper 30s in degrees Celsius. That's close to 100 degrees in the Fahrenheit scale and this happens everyday from about the end of May all the way to the end of September sometimes. This summer is one of those sometimes. As I write this, it's currently 36 degrees Celsius and there are least two hours to go before we top out the temperature for the day. Add high humidity to all this almost every single day for 6 months and you'll understand why many scents, while they might work as summer scents in most climates, just won't work in the kind of weather I've just described. We only get about one month of decently cold weather, so I have very limited opportunities to try out the heavyweights let alone the middleweights sometimes. I have to choose my scents carefully, especially when I leave the house.

Regards,

scentemental[/blue]

Oh, lol!, I understand now! [smiley=wink.gif]. Hot and humit days doesn't scream for the heavy boys. Oh, winters here in holland can be real cold!! I just need warmer scents to survive winter!

Couldn't agree more! This is the first scent that came to mind when I saw the original question.

Others that came to mind that have also been mentioned are M7 and Michael for Men. I'd also throw in MPG Grain de Plaisir and L'Artisan L'eau du Navigateur. All of these latter fragrances are ones that I reach for in the fall, but none embodies fall like Mechant Loup!

Cheers,
Jim

Jaipar and M7 both my fall October staples. I just can't wait to break them out. Tomorrow is going to be the first day of fall and its still muggy humid here.

The problem we have in the u.k. is that autumn just won't come. the sun is lower but we still have heat and humidity in abundance. it doesn't feel right wearing out-and-out summer frags but its too hot for silage-monsters. trapped in-between. any ideas?
