What's the World's Most "Beautiful" Fragrance?

This one is going to be hard to explain. I have only a half-baked idea of what I'm asking myself.

In the past, I've started threads such as "What Bottle are you Most Proud Of," "What's the Best Reviewed
Fragrance on Basenotes" and now, what's the world's most beautiful fragrance.

Not necessarily your favorite, or even in your top 5 or 10. Maybe it's a scent that you, yourself, would never wear, for whatever reason. And yeah, I probably am talking about, perhaps/maybe, a woman's scent. But not necessarily. Men's frags are designed to smell "great" and women's "beautiful," so I'm probably falling into the marketing hype and gender stereotypes...but what's the scent that makes you go "Oh, my, god."

Unlike a member here who seems never to miss an opportunity to proclaim his disdan for men who wear women's scents (which I find incredibly limiting for someone who loves scent, but to each his own), I own the usual suspects...Daim Blone, Cuir de Russe, Jolie Madam, Shalimar, Bandit, Mitsoku...and oodles of unisex frags, mostly niche. And I DO find them more "beautiful" than mens' fragrances, though I would say that I pick the occasion when I wear them more carefully than a masculine scent.

Of course, this is all subjective...the most beautiful scent in the world is the one you choose. For me, there's no comparison: Loukhoum by Keiko Mecheri. The funny thing is, I rarely wear it. Even though it's marketed as a unisex fragrance, I definitely think it skews feminine...and yet its sheer beauty never ceases to leave me weak-kneed. I spray a blast of this fragrance on every person who visits my home, and without exception, man or woman, their jaws drop, followed by words like..."Dude, that's unbelievable..." "Holy shit!"..."That's beautiful!..." etc., etc.

I wish I were better at describing fragrances, but I'm not. With fragrances, like ex Supreme Court Justice Potter Stewart said when asked to define pornography, "I can't describe it, but I know it when I see it." I can't describe what makes Loukhoum so freaking beatiful, but I sure recognize beauty when I smell it.

For those who don't know this gem, there's an excellent write up in the Directory. For those who do, how would you describe it?

What's the world's most BEAUTIFUL scent to you?

I've mentioned it before and they're Coco Mlle., Coco, and Opium, and Dior Poison. But Coco Mlle is the one frag that just makes me weak in the knees and lose control just sniffing it.

Yep. Forgot about this one. I have it too and it is indeed a real beauty.

It has to be either Chanel pour Monsieur or Guerlain Heritage for me...

Michael Kors for women always makes me sniff twice, and I just have to keep sniffing. Love it.

Encens de Lavande, after much deliberation.

*edit* Bois d'Argent isn't far behind.

I find Messe De Minuit very beautiful in an eerie way, but i couldn't imagine wearing this out in public.

Of the ones that i DO wear out in public, i'd have to say Opium PH EDP, M7 and Havana.

Bravo to me friends who are able to select just one!
To me the world's most beautiful are:
Women's:
Chopard - CASMIR
Lanvin - ARPEGE
Guerlain - L'HEURE BLEUE

Men's:
Chanel - ANTAEUS
Patou - PATOU POUR HOMME
Creed - GREEN IRISH TWEED

runner's up:
Guerlain - SAMSARA
Dior - EAU SAUVAGE

L'Heure Bleue

I guess I would have to go with so many Guerlains -

L'Heure Bleue by a MILE
Apres l'ondee a close second
Jicky

followed closely by Chanel Bois des Iles ( yes, even more than Cuir de Russie, but only in that unquantifiable "beautiful" sense, I do like Cuir de Russie more)
I guess Chergui and Tam Dao will be there as well.
And of course, what I personally think is the loveliest Creed floral, Fleurissimo.

Just a few that pop into my head for the adjective of *lovely*. Guess I am closet romantic.

Cherugi, god yes. That'd have to be my #2.

Looks like I have to samples L'Heure Bleue!

IMO the classic Guerlains set the landmark for "beauty", and of them I'd go with Mitsouko.

If I had a girlfriend, I would want her to smell of CDG2. I do not mind wearing "female" scents, but this "unisex" fragrance is too feminine for me.

I have to second Antaeus as the most beautiful masculine fragrance, especially the basenotes.

ANNUCI by ANNUCI

(a.k.a. Â*Annuci Man, as listed in the basenotes directory )

As the only one reviwer Â*thus far noted , Â*it's what a Parisian dandy would wear, or an 1875 Dodge City gambler- ---if he imported it from Paris

I'm surprised it's not mentioned in the Forum more often.

Arguably Â*the best floral bouquet of any man's Â*cologne, Â*with a subdued amaretto note.

And yes, of course I wear it.

Especially when playing Poker Â*

Versailles pour homme Jean Desprez

You arrive in heaven and God says you quit smoking a long time ago and now you can smoke all you want.
And that bottle of Caymus California 1997 red, you now have an eternity to drink it!

Hail Mary................................
