Guerlain - Vetiver, in the late 70s

I believe it was Polo. Hard to remember--during high school I received Polo, Drakkar Noir, Quorum, Nino Cerruti, and Armani as gifts.

The 1st one I bought for myself was one of the original Abercrombie & Fitch colognes--I think it was "Woods" if I recall correctly. Everyone in college thought it was the greatest thing they had ever smelled.

Back in about 1962 or '63 I purchased a bottle of something called "Dante cologen for men".
It was very spicey / sweet along the lines of Old Spice, but I thought it was the classiest thing going. I have no idea who manufactured or distributed the stuff, but I loved it at the time and my girlfriend Dorothy was wild for it. It was sealed with a cork which gave her as a keepsake after the bottle was empty. The wearing of any cologne at that time kind of set one apart (Soph. in H.S.). I bought it in a men's clothing store. It was displayed right on the shelf next to the velvet collar jackets and H.I.S. casino slacks.
It was the only cologne the store carried. Think I spent $3.95 for 6 oz bottle. That was quite a bit at the time.
Later on Canoe.

Cheers..................

Chanel Pour Monsieur. I must have been fifteen or sixteen.

Chanel Pour Monsieur was my first ever frag purchase as well - in my early 20s. Funny thing is, after so many years and so many different perfumes, I still have Chanel PM, still wear it, and still love it.

The first cologne I think I ever wore was Brut (at age 5!!). I remember that when I was in kindergarten, my father would splash some of this on me so I'd smell classy (I guess). I remember kinda feeling self-conscious because I was the only kid in school that wore "adult" cologne!!

The first scent I ever bought for myself was Eternity for Men in 1993 (at age 30!). I really hadn't worn ANY cologne during my high school and college years (maybe a few splashes of my dad's Brut, Old Spice, and English Leather every once in awhile), but after reading a review of perfumes and colognes in Consumer Reports(!) magazine, I saw that Eternity for Men was ranked the #2 best smelling men's fragrance (right behind Drakkar Noir, which I didn't really care for at the time, but it has since become one of my all-time faves), so I decided to buy some. When I did, the salesperson gave me a sample of Cool Water, and I liked that one even better! I've been hooked on "good frags" (not cheapo drugstore wannabes) ever since!! [smiley=grin.gif]
