Balmain by Balmain. Luscious, mossy, resinous, sharp.

(Just for the record, on the Balmain website there is a nice olfactive description of this scent. The Balmain website is a joy to behold and very well done, and for once the pyramid does make sense!)

My SOTD was Eau d'Hadrien Absolu from Annick Goutal. This is a potent, lemony scent that quickly dries down to a darkish citrus due to the underlying woods. This happens before the scent can become cloying, like Lemon Pledge furniture polish.

My SOTE is a whole different thang, Comme de Garcons EDP, tried for the first time from a newly received decant. Wow! Is this ever a spicy blast, challenging Arabie even for the spiciest fragrance I've ever tried. This initial headnote, and middle notes, are dominated by clove and cardamon, and eventually these are regressing to allow labdanum, olibanum, cinnamon, cedar, and black pepper to emerge. In other words, even MORE spice! The effect is warm and enveloping; the two sprays to my lower thorax are allowing for plenty of sillage. This is a medicinal scent, deeper and more serious than even Arabie. I think I like this better than Arabie. Definitely worth trying, even though not all will enjoy.

LOL! I understand the acronym--actually I was stating that I hadn't decided my SOTE yet, hence the question mark. [smiley=laugh.gif]

(I eventually chose Rochas Man.)
