NEW: Montblanc peaks to the stars

Cosmopolitan Cosmetics, the prestige fragrance and cosmetics arm of German beauty group Wella (Procter & Gamble), is launching a new men's fragrance under its license with French luxury-goods brand Montblanc (Vendôme Group). Starwalker, formulated by Robertet's Michel Almairac, echoes Montblanc's new luxury pen collection of the same name.

Montblanc is primarily known for its luxury goods and accessories, says Carole Louise, marketing director France for Cosmopolitan Cosmetics' Rochas, Gucci and Montblanc brands. Our fragrance brand is still, therefore, in development. Each launch is an extra rung on the segment-development ladder. This is the fourth men's fragrance Cosmopolitan Cosmetics has brought out under the Montblanc license after Presence, Individuel and Presence Cool. The brand currently has two women's fragrances (Presence Femme and Individuelle).

We are launching more men's fragrances under Montblanc because the luxury goods side of the brand is much more strongly recognized by the male consumer and so it is through them that we will further penetrate the perfumery industry, Louise explains. Cosmopolitan is not new to this development dynamic, Louise recalls: It is just like what we did with Gucci, which was known only for its luxury goods when we began fragrance. Now, Gucci fragrance is a powerhouse.

Starwalker will launch in France on October 15 to be followed by a global rollout. There will be in-store visuals, shot by Mario Sorrenti, as well as sampling and events organized around points-of-sale.
The spicy woody EdT, with notes of bergamot, mandarin, bamboo, ginger, nutmeg, cedar wood, sandalwood, white musk and amber, is housed in a glass bottle manufactured by Luigi Bormioli and packaging designed by Franzrudolph Lehnert.

The EdT comes in 50ml and 75ml sizes (45 and 59), accompanied by an ancillary line including an aftershave (75ml: 37), a bath and shower gel (200ml: 21), a deodorant stick (75g: 21) and deodorant spray (150ml: 22).
