Long Term Fragrance Storage

Thread Starter
Hi: what is the best way to store fragrances for a long time period without losing the top notes. This would not be storage and usage concurrently. Rather long term preservation. I was thinking about sealing a bottle in wax. Is there a better method? Is there a bottle that has near perfect sealing qualities? Thanks

There were a couple of threads on long term storage. You might wanna do a search on that.

I know nothing about waxing though.
But keep in mind that air is one of the enemies of the fragrance. The nemesis is light , and beware of the heat as well.

Very true. I would keep them in a cool closet. Thats what I do with all of mine. The lights not a factor and they should be cool if possible. Leaving them unboxed on your dresser wont do them any good. Good luck!

Don't forget there is air inside the bottle which will oxidise fragrance remaining inside. The best you can hope for is to slow the deterioration - keep your unused bottles well sealed in the fridge.

Interesting. I'm curious to know how long fragrances last (i.e., maintain their original scent) if they are stored appropriately. I ask because I've thought about purchasing a 16floz flacon of GIT.
