Best Sandalwood scent

I always liked very much saldalwood note, but sometimes in scents it became too sweet or stingy.
I'm not a connoisseur and I'd like to find a really deep intxicating woody sandalwood scent. Some suggestions???

Theres been a lot of threads about sandalwood lately and I've been on a sandalwood kick trying a bunch out. Heres ones I'd recommend trying.

MPG Santal Noble
Etro Sandalo
Art of Shaving Sandalwood
Creed Santal Imperial
Keiko Mecheri Bois de Santal
Trumpers Sandalwood
Villoresi Sandalo
Floris Santal

I second MPG's Santal Noble.

I own many sandalwood scents (its one of my favorite notes) and SN is my favorite.

Lorenzo Viloressi Dandalo

My favourite is MPG Santal Noble.

Floris Santal
Creed Santal Imprial
MPG Santal Noble

in that order for me. I find the Floris to be marvellous, perhaps one of the most pleasant, masculine well balanced scents I«ve ever tried. Unfortunately my girlfriend bought me JF instead...

Definitely Villoresi's Sandalo (though I do like SN as well)

Santal Noble will undoubtedly win this war!

Grey Flannel and CK Be are two of my favorites.

Caswell-Massey's Tricorn is quite nice:

"A favorite of John Barrymore and Cole Porter. Why have sophisticated men like these found Tricorn to their liking? Perhaps it's the subtlety of Tricorn's top note of prized Bangalore sandalwood."

They also have just plain 'ol Sandalwood (which I haven't tried):

"The sumptuous gardens of Maharajahs and Maharanis are fragranced by the rare sandalwood tree. The scent is as intriguing as India itself, and equally suited to men and women. Rich sandalwood fragrance is known for its long lasting scent. "

If you like simple note, SMN Sandalo may give you good impression. I love it.

To me the closest to the actual sandalwood smell is "TAM DAO" by Dyptique..A scent that I am very glad to have discovered...
The best is Diptyque Tam Dao, imho. A close second is Shiseido Feminite du Bois, which despite the name can be worn by a man too.

Creed Santal Imperial
Serge Lutens Santal de Mysore
Le Jardin Retrouve Santalwood
Tam Dao

Are all favours of mine.

Other than out and out pure sandalwood oil (heavenly by the way)
i prefer the blended ones where the sandalwood appears later..

Egoiste - Chanel
and
Samsara - Guerlain

My five favorites are:

Tam Dao - Diptyque [creamy]
10 Corso Como [modern]
Santal - L'Artisan Parfumeur [light/effervescent]
Santal de Mysore - Serge Lutens [heavy/brooding]
Sandalo - Etro [ethereal]

I owned a decant of Santal Noble for several months until just recently beginning to wear it. It seemed so overpowering at first - I couldn't discern it's complexities.

Now I absolutely love it. I find myself craving it at times, like one would crave chocolate. The notes are at once sweet, woody, creamy, fecal/animal, bitter-herbal, and they all resolve into a single chord. It's spectacular.

I prefer LV Sandalo and the art of shaving's Sandalwood.

As for Tam Dao - I found it alittle too mellow. As for the MPG version - very nice - but I found the LV had alittle more kick.

CM Sandalwood. Regal & durable. (CM Tricorn is a bit too sweet for me.)

Also try: Baldessarini. I have the EDC. You would think that I wouldn't like it after my previous comment regarding Tricorn, as Baldessarini is also a sweet scent, but Tricorn has a spicy side which comes out over time - Tricorn is just sweet & linear on me.

Mysore de Santal by Montale Confidential Collection.

The best i have come across ATM is Sycamore by Chanel

I don't think you can beat Creed's discontinued Bois de Santal.

Vintage Santal Noble and Vintage Profumum Santalum. Both are different but terrific.
Tam Dao +1
The new Hermessence Santal Massoïa is really good, too

This. Tam Dao is mostly a cedar affair...

I will stick to my Etro.

Original Santal if you like something interesting mixed with the sandalwood.
The 2 Best are Creed Original Santal & Art Of Shaving Sandlewood.
Santal Noble (vintage) for me so far, though I've also enjoyed Bois des Iles EDT (yet to try the parfum).

There were two limited edition sandalwood based bottles in luckyscent's newsletter yesterday. It's probably more for collectors but you might want to eventually look into them.

Molecule 01 - Black Edition - The same gorgeous, best selling, sandalwood scent, re-imagined in a limited edition black matte glass bottle.

Escentric 01 - Black Edition - The same sparkling mix of sandalwood and zesty top notes, re-imagined in a limited edition black matte glass bottle.

Among the best and also the most affordable, Sandalwood by Crabtree & Evelyn stands out

Creed Santal Imperiale
Serge Lutens Santal de Mysore

Bois des Îles - after it settles down...
I love Creed's Original Santal.
