Les Epices de la Passion

I decided to take a break from Luten's, and try samples of L'Artisan's Les Epices de la Passion (Love Potion) set.

SAFRAN TROUBLANT (Saffron Spell) - a spicy rose scent with saffron, rose, sandalwood and vanilla. ÊInteresting and quite nice. ÊI would like to compare this side-by-side with the darker Voleur de Roses.

POIVRE PIQUANT - (Fiery Pepper) - white pepper supposedly softened with milk, and a bit of liquorice and honey. ÊSmells powerful and mostly pepper to me. ÊSome similarities to Hermesessence Poivre Samarcand.

PIMENT BRULANT - (Hot Pimento) - I was really looking forward to the chocolate in this one, but mostly red pepper to me. ÊMaybe I don't smell the chocolate from wearing A*Men today... or maybe I'll just have to try layering with A*MEN! Ê;D

Any comments on these fragrances?

I've wanted to try these for a while but they're quite pricey. I know Paul wore poivre piquant a few days ago and seemed to like it.
Scentual whats your favorite of the 3?

Thanks for asking. After several hours of wearing all three last night, my favorite is the Safran Troublant. Spice rose nicely combined with vanilla and sandalwood to produce a scent where the whole is better than the some of its parts. I was quite tempted to wear this as my SOTD, but I didn't want to test a full wearing in the office.

I actually didn't think they are overly pricey, since 3 - 15 ml are $75, prior to the price increase on Feb 1st. It is like buying decants with original bottles, 3 fragrances totaling 1.5 oz for about the same price of one 1.7 oz, which I may not finish anyway. The only hitch is that you really have to like all three.

I also have samples of L'Artisan's Mood Set, and will be testing these in the future. And samples of KM, FM, SL ... just not enough time for this hobby, but I am having a blast!

Regards,
John
