Fans of symphonic gothic metal take notice - new Within Temptation album is out, it is called Silent Force and kicks some serious ass.

Not that *I* am a big fan of this kind of mucis, but WT stands head and shoulders above the rest of the pack. Awsome CD.

Revolver--one of the best albums of all time, and one of the Beatles' best, I think! A true classic and work of art.

Great album. He's a bit of a commie for me sometimes, but a song like "St. Swithins Day" brings me to tears everytime! Also Kirsty MacColl's version of "A New England" gets me choked up as well.

Today I've been listening to Siouxsie and the Banshees' "Through the Looking Glass", the album of covers. I like the first song, "This Town's not Big Enough For Both of Us". I want to cover it at my next show. I wonder who did it originally?

I also picked up both albums by The New Pornographers. And the Blur DVD "Starshaped", which I'm gonna watch later.

Millennium Funk Party.

Reason why I'm playing this is, I was thinking about how to describe Armani Black Code in terms of music. ÊThe name Black Code, and Armani's explanation for it, makes me think of elegant pop-rock by Bryan Ferry or Roxy Music, but the fragrance itself actually makes me think of Jungle Boogie, Brick House, or Play That Funky Music, all of which are on the CD. ÊI love the fragrance--it's one of my top choices these days--but it just says "funky" to me, albeit Super Bad funk.

Poor Andy Bell... announced this week he has HIV. Doesn't come as a surprise, but still... though being the cynic that I am I wonder whether this very public announcement has anything to do with the new album being released next month and then his boyfriend's book being published a little later after that...

I know EVERYTHING about them. They are still alive and recording (they started in late 60's)!! If you need to know anything about them you can ask me!

I bet you that if you listen to their records there will be 20 songs you know.................they are quite weird on stage and their lyrics are the funniest around!

My favorite album is "Indiscreet". Listened to it for years everyday in my youth!

Actually I sent them a mail 10-14 days ago (via www.allsparks.com) and asked them about their favorite scents!! Have not heard anything yet though.

Mic.

I have to admit, I have never quite understood the excitement surrounding Interpol. Isn't it (or aren't they) a case of "been there done that"?
Maksi,
How much have you listened to them? It took me months of listening to appreciate their very monotonous style, but the melodies become extremely infectious after a while. Also their lyrics make perfect sense to me in some weird way. The song Roland from the first album is brilliant.

Quite a few times.
I am guessing it's the fact that I get sent all these albums by artists that are truely innovative and experimental that never get above the radar that makes me so contempt of mediocre rip-off bands like Interpol... it's just the flavour of the year, let's be honest about it. There's nothing creative or new that they offer, just a more polished-up version of ditties that have been done may times before them. It's just cool to like them, it's very in right now, but truth has to be said... they are just as exciting as Britney or Christina.

That's a great album! I have that on one CD along with their album "Wilder". Yeah, they sound a bit dated, but even though I just got into Teardrop Explodes, the music reminds me of the good times of the eighties...

"The poppies are in the field, but don't ask me what that means"- Julian Cope

Today I was driving in the snow, and I needed something icy and blustery to listen to in my car, so I dusted off Sugar's "Copper Blue". Great sound. Husker Du was OK, but IMO, Sugar was Bob Mould's pinnacle. I wish Sugar would reunite for a tour, since I never got to see them play live. :-/

I also can't stop listening to Morrissey's "You Are the Quarry"Deluxe Edition with all the B-sides. And oddly enough, I found my long lost copy of Maladjusted, and threw it on and...My stars, how that album has grown in stature in my eyes! I initially thought it was a bit weak (which is what I though at first of the new album), but its gotten so much better over the last seven years.

I agree Indie! Alma matters is a great song but the masterpiece on that album is Trouble loves me, the structure and crescendo is just amazing.

"Trouble loves me
Trouble needs me
Two things
More than you do"

"Show me a barrel and watch me scrape it
Faced with the music, as always Iâll face it
In the half-light
So english, frowning
Then at midnight i
Canât get you out of my head
A disenchanted taste
Still running âround
A disenchanted taste
Still running âround"

poetry.
