Like the smell of Pipe Tobacco, but don't smoke?

I grew tired of trying to find a candle or room spray that smelled like pipe tobacco burning, so today, I figured what the heck--let's give this idea I had a little try. Several months ago, I bought one of those cheap oil burners where you put the tea-light candles underneath. Today, I bought a bag of cherry flavored pipe tobacco and put a little bit in the plate, and lit a candle underneath. Within about 10 minutes, the room started to fill up with the smell of cherry pipe tobacco. So far, just as is the case with burning the oils, I see just a waft of smoke coming from the plate as the tobacco warms up. I don't see a lot of smoke at all, but the smell is definately strong as the minutes pass by. So, if you're like me and want to smell pipe tobacco but don't smoke, give the oil burner a try. All in all, it's relatively inexpensive.

It depends on the tabacco. I have bought the "Danish Mixture" in Switzerland. That stuff is kept in big boxes and very expensive. I liked to smoke a pipe once or twice a week some years ago but stopped it because I got black teeth from the smoke and sometimes I felt sick. I tried it on the diffuser before, but it's wastage IMO. Maybe I try the pipe again in the near future, it's a ritual and smells outragous, but I think I'm too young. :-[

This is an exciting idea. I've been hoping for some time to find a fragrance that simulates the smell of (smoking) pipe tobacco, but maybe I could make do with using the real thing as a space scent, like incense or potpourri! Thanks for the suggestion. If I get around to trying it I'll post about my results.

Give Michael Kors for men a try it smells specifically of pipe tobacco.

What a great idea!! For a live-alone lady like me - this is a great way to get some masculinity going throughout the house. I've got ceramic burners meant to hold wax "tarts"....gonna give that a try! Thanks Bark!! :bounce:

Well I think I can help out here. How about I come and stay for a week, don't help with the washing up and put my boots all over the furniture. I promise to wear lots of Michael Kors and smoke the occasional cigar.

In compensation we can watch lots of good b&w movies together!

I keep my pipe tobacco on a shelf near my front door. Although I did not put it there intending for it to act as a home fragrance, I always get very nice compliments about how nice my apartment smells. Some of it is in sealed tins, but the kind that comes in an envelope gives off a pretty good amount of odor- plus it's the cheaper kind, so I don't get heartbroken if it dries out. I've grown to really enjoy the smell, and it's easier than spraying perfume around every now and then.

I personally find a judiciously applied bit of Cuba Red goes a long way toward smoke in the air..

Tatine "Tabac" candle, is the one you are looking for. I'll guarantee it. you'll smell the rich pipe tobacco as soon as you open the carton, and after burning it for a half hour, you will think grandpa was in the room with his pipe. it's not an artificial tobacco-like scent either -- this is the real deal. it's a little pricey at about $35, but totally worth every penny. you'll just have to look up their website and either find a local "stockist" shop, or buy from an online vendor. I buy from Jayson Home online. try one of them, you won't be sorry!

I too, love the smell of pipe tobacco but do not smoke. I am going to try that out about keeping tobacco near the door. Would love for that scent in the house. Thanks.

Happens to me also, though I am neither a smoker and even less a pipe smoker, yet there is a particular pipe tobacco mix by Dunhill enjoyed by me unsmoked/unburned, simply thanks to its fragrant notes before being actually smoked in a pipe.
