RIP Johnny Carson

Sad news today, with the passing of the king of Late Night TV. He was 79. Seems like it was only yesterday when, in the mid-late 80's, I'd stay up late during the summer to watch him after listening to OTR, then hit the hay with a Stephen King book. Ahhhhhhhhh... those were the days.

Wow. I hadn't heard...

Definitely a TV icon for many of us, I'm sure.

RIP.

I also remember staying up late during summers and Friday nights to watch the original (and still my favorite) King of Late Night TV. I always loved the skits performed right after the opening monologue. Carnac was my all time favorite. I also loved when they had animals on the show...those were some classic TV moments.

Rest in peace Johnny...you made millions of us laugh.

8) I really think that Johnny Carson was the very best, at what he did. Such a witty person. He could handle any group of guests, with aplomb. I remember seeing LIVE, the famous Ed Ames incident, during which Mr. Ames attempted to teach the 'tonight show' audience, how to throw tomahawks. A cardboard target of a cowboy, had been set into place. Mr. Ames proceeded to throw his tomahawk, which landed, directly at the target's crotch. The tomahawk's handle was pointed upward. Enough said . . . the audience went wild . . . this clip was played over and over again, during Carson's highlight specials. Another hilarious moment occurred when Arnold the pig, from Green Acres, relieved himself at Eva Gabor's, feet. Great fun . . . especially during summer. There will never be another talk show host, like Mr. C.

I must admit, I have never heard of him and I have lived in the States for the last 10 years. I guess I don't watch that much tv.

Mr. Carson was the best without a doubt. I Loved the music right at the start, the skits, everything about this show was fantastic. No other talk show has measured up to this classic and I doubt that one ever will.
Rest In Peace Johnny................

Even tho he had spent his retirement totally out of the lime light, I will NEVER forget the great Johnny Carson. I think that will be one of the fondest memories of life, being able to stay up to watch his show. And tears still come to my eyes when I think of the final episodes (especially the one with the Divine Miss M serenading him) I miss you Mr. Carson....RIP :'(

I am fortunate to be old enough to have watched his show ever since the late 60's, and was bummed when he retired. He really knew how to get the best out of all his guests, and the audience too, for that matter. He was a real treat to watch, and all of the late-night guest TV shows are imitations of his show, in my opinion. He will be sorely missed. RIP, Johnny.
