What fragrances remind you of Shalimar? I love it.

The fragrances, so far, that remind me of Shalimar are:

Etro Shaal Nur
Musc Ravageur (it reminds me of Shalimar on my skin but not at all on my husband's skin)
La Maison de la Vanille Noire du Mexique
Emeraude (the original formula)

Shalimar is such a gorgeous, romantic, mysterious fragrance. I'd love to have more like this. ;D

Or des Indes
Misuki

Must de Cartier was supposedly based off of Shalimar but with a green top note. Personally I find it more like Obsession.

I agree that Shalimar is a gorgeous fragrance!

Holzman & Stephanie Misuki is famously similar, but may be hard to find.

Of course, Shalimar Light has the family resemblance. So does Jicky, although it's got a lot of other stuff going on too. Bal a Versailles strikes me as a more distant relative.

There is something in many of the scents previously mentioned which I've tried that goes in a very bad direction on me, even though I like them on others. I have had a woman behind a perfume counter scrambling for an alcohol wipe to rid the world of Bal a Versailles on my skin. Or des Indes, Shalimar, Must de Cartier to some extent, and Jicky are also *not* for me. I wonder what it is...

And don´t forget Habit Rouge Â* Only a little dryer and less vanillic, maybe more for daytime use.
Ligea by Carthusia. It's like a Shalimar made for warm weather.
There was some discussion of this recently somewhere, and I added my two cents of agreement, that the original Moschino is reminiscent of Shalimar. At least that's what struck me years ago when I bought a bottle of Moschino (which I then gave away because I actually prefer Shalimar).
Fleur Oriental by Miller Harris reminds me of Shalimar, but with more heliotrope and no leather. I love the leather in Shalimar and so I prefer it over Fleur Oriental, but I think it's a great scent too (especially if you are not into the leather notes).

I think it was John Oakes in one of his books that referred to Moschino as a "parody on Shalimar" - similar but with a sense of humour. I didn't really notice that but maybe I will if I re-visit it.

Crown Perfumery's Eau de Russe -- such a great scent!! And similar to Shalimar. Unfortunately I am slightly allergic to it but I have such sensitive skin, really, what doesn't give me a rash should be the real question. But it's great! Should wear it more often. Despite the slight rash.

Habit Rouge (it reminds me more of Shalimar Light, though)
Shaal Nur
Sometimes Angelique Encens reminds me of Shalimar. Royal Secret too. Lyra by Alain Delon is a cheap-ish smelling Shalimar clone.

Is this the same as Ligea "La Sirena"? Thanks [smiley=happy.gif]

Habit Rouge definitely, and more on the citrus side for me.
Royal Secret's dry down, I've discovered over time, is very similar to Shalimar's powdery side.

Definitely Misuki and Fragonard's Reve Indien, only I find Misuki has a more sparkling 'character', the Reve Indien a smoother, less smoky smell.
Definitely Misuki! To a lesser extent, Shaal Nur when applied lightly.

I agree that Habit Rouge is reminiscent of Shalimar. And this makes sense, since they are both by Guerlain.

I think it is the same? And the link only shows Ligea la Sirena. And that is like a wonderful daytime version of Shalimar. I love it.

Hmmm. Â*I've had samples of Ligea "La Sirena" and I don't remember getting even a hint of Shalimar. Â*I remember it as being a bitter chypre loaded with opoponax! Â* [smiley=lolk.gif]I'd better get some more samples, because in my memory I've obviously confused Sirena with something else! Â*I love opoponax and many chypres, by the way, but I have a memory of disliking Sirena. Â*My nose has developed a lot since I've tried it, though, so my memory could be waaaaay off. Â*I will definitely give this one another try!

The older Emeraude, I totally agre with Tovah.
i think i've heard enough blasphemous rumors ;D ;D ;D first of all shalimar is an holy grail very hard to clone ,i personally have habit rouge too and i didnt ever detected any similarities , the only one perfume that i've found and can compete with shalimar is reve indien by fragonard very very similar
post #24 of 28
I have to add Mauboussin to this list... I really think they are quite similar... and I do love both!

Fifi by Fifi Chachnil. A happy, lighthearted version of Shalimar ( wait for the drydown )

Fifi Chachnil smells exactly like Nanadebary Pink on my skin, but it has waaay more lasting power. I think a bit more cinnamon, too. I'll have to dig up my sample of this and give it another run!

Aroma M Geisha Noire, but it's an obtuse version and kind of clunky, like the platform-shoe version and not elegant.
Purist that I am, there's nothing that reminds me much of Shalimar since I only wear the original, vintage version. Like many other altered perfumes, it's current version just doesn't hold a candle to the original. Maybe 24 Faubourg is a second cousin, though.
