Love at first sniff - - A poll!

What was the last fragrance that made you say "OMG . . . THIS is exactly what I have been craving!!!"

OR . . . have you not found that scent yet?

For me, it was my rediscovery of Cristalle - - it just fits where I am right at this moment.

I have a tendency to find those fragrances all the time, but usually it becomes a short love story... :-[

My latest "love-at-first-sniff" is Gaultier 2.

It was Keiko Mecheri's SANGUINE. It's the only scent I own that I loved at first sniff, usually I have to wear something a couple times to really get that "LOVE IT - GOTTA HAVE IT" feeling.

En Passant ;D

Interesting question! From latest on, my OMG-ers are

Jalaine's Gardenia
Matin Calan by Comptoir Sud Pacifique
Kai
Chinatown by Bond #9
Eau de Camille by Annick Goutal
Mimosa pour Moi by L'Artisan
Rose Essentielle by Bulgari

I think that's my total OMG list. And it's interesting (to me, anyway :) that there's not a single Serge Lutens on the list. I'm an SL fanatic, loving them enough to pursue bell bottles from France. I suppose they are too complex to love off the bat, much of their appeal being that complexity and development. SL's are fragrances you need to get to know for a while to fall in love.

There have been many along the way........but oh its the first that always makes things magical.....

SL CHERGUI & RAHAT LOUKOUM I tried them the same day. i had gotten a ton of samples and when i tried these 2 SLs i was over the top smitten. I didn't know scents like this existed.......they were SO exotic & new to me........They will always hold a place dear to my heart!!!

Norma Kamali Incense for me.

Mine are rather mainstream compared to all the wonderful niche scents being mentioned. It takes me time to develop appreciation for the more unusual fragrances.

L'Instant de Guerlain instantly fulfilled some previously unknown, gaping need in my soul. Sweet, sweeter, sweetest. It's currently my sig, and will probably remain so for sometime to come.

Hypnotic Poison: I instantly loved it, but then my husbands' reaction to it was so visceral, so over the top and unlike the usual reserved him, I knew I would always have a bottle. It's as if the scent belongs to our marriage, not just to me. I was about to make a Viagra joke, but I will refrain.

castorpollux: I loved Dolce Vita from the first, as well.

The latest one was Caron Poivre (which I bought in February in Brussels...) I fell for it like 16 tons, had to have it, no matter what, so I ended up with a big bottle because the small one wasn't available. :

G. Mattiolo Man`s. The first time I put it on my hand, I literally couldn`t sleep that night. Believe it or not.

I think it was Bois D´Iris by the Different company. The sample is long gone, and for some reason, I am not in such a hurry to get it.

L´Instant de Guerlain, I just had to have it after the first sniff. And the love remains, it´s still my favourite after some years and some other frags. Pitty it is "loud", I can´t wear it every day...

There were a couple which hit me like a ton of bricks: Caron's Farnesiana, Frederick Malle's Une Rose & Bond No. 9's New Haarlem and Lolita Lempika edp & the matching body lotion.

I'm not a fan of top notes in general, so it usually takes me a number of trials to be sure of my feelings about any frags. The exception being Dzing! Perfect right at the start, first time, every time. I like the drydown, too, but the overall effect is short-lived on me, so I could reapply almost every hour.

Vera Wang. Where was I so long?

Casmir, by Chopard.... god, I love that stuff!

I fell in love with Roma instantly. It suits me to a T.
Also, Keiko Mecheri's Loukhoum - in a different
kind of way. My comfort scent.
