What are your favorite classics?

Thread Starter
And by classics, I mean pre-1980's and only the ones that have survived, reformulated or otherwise. 8-) I've become a devotee of Shalimar, White Shoulders, Most Precious, Chamade, Estee, Youth Dew, Arpege, Emeraude, Maja, Tabu, Fracas, Anais Anais, Aromatics Elixir, Halston, Chanel #22, Lauren. I always end up going for one of these at least once or twice a week.

I suppose my list is going to contain a few that have already been mentioned, lol.

Let's see ...released before 1980 and still in production, right?

Chanel No.5, No.19, No.22 and Bois des Iles
Guerlain Chamade
Caron Infini
Balmain Vent Vert and Miss Balmain
Patou 1000
Van Cleef & Arpels First
Clinique Aromatics Elixir
Molyneux Quartz
Estée Lauder Youth Dew and Azurée
YSL Rive Gauche

tigrushka - I'd certainly want to include Mystère as well, but wasn't it discontinued some time ago? If not (omg!!) how is the current stuff? Is it a re-release? (Editing to add, I just noticed that this thread is seven years old, so maybe it was discontinued since then, lol!)

Classic means at least a hundred years old?

Ah, if only I could get the original, pre-1980's versions of my beloved Mitsouko, L'Heure Bleue, Shalimar, 1000 and First! The reformulated versions you can get now just aren't the same. Some people like them, I know, but I prefer the originals and sadly can't afford the terrible prices they command on evil bay.
But top of my list are the really, really vintage scents of N'Aimez Que Moi, Or et Noir and Rose, all by Caron. And the reissued Grossmiths, especially Shem El Nessim, which is a beautiful, beautiful scent. Probably my absolute favourite right now.
The craftsmanship and quality ingredients of these classics make them infinitely desirable, even today, maybe especially today, with the profusion of cheaper scents aimed at teenagers (I assume).

I'm mostly hooked on the old Guerlains:

Mouchoir de Monsieur
Eau de Cologne Imperiale

Also,
Chanel for Men
Knize Ten
Habanita
Old Spice
Fougere Royale (though maybe this doesn't count because the new is nothing like the old)
