A different kind of 'Desert Island scent'

No, this isn't one of those painful exercises asking you to limit yourself to the one or two scents
you'd choose if you were cast away on desert island. It's more complicated..... [smiley=wink.gif]

You've just accepted a lucrative, prestigious position working for a luxury spa-resort on a private island
in a temperate climate. The owner of the island and resort is a benevolent despot, who has made the decision
to contract with a perfume company to open a full-service boutique on your island. The choice of perfume company is....YOURS!
There's one hitch, though. You will be leaving your current collection of perfumes behind, as you will be expected to wear, exclusively, only scents produced by the 'house' you select. Since this is an exclusive boutique, the terms of the contract
suggest that the company you select may be willing to resurrect some of their discontinued formulas as exclusives.

Which company would you choose? Why?
Are there any categories or classes of scents that you'd have to forget while you're working on your island?
Would the company you select have to resurrect any discontinued scents?

Oh, Timberwolf! So you would choose Evyan (the original maker of White Shoulders?)
Remember, you have full access to all the scents of the House you choose: you don't have to
wear all of them, but which House do you think would best suit your needs?

My choice (and it's a hard one): Guerlain.
I originally thought I'd have to have my Carons: Tabac Blond, Yatagan, Pour un Homme, L'Anarchiste, Narcisse Noir...... or maybe Chanel? I'd be thrilled with Egoiste, Pour Monsieur Concentree, Allure, Antaeus, Cristallle.
But then I remembered something that DustB pointed out a few months back on the Boy's Board: Chanel doesn't make a vetiver! And I realized I had to have a vetiver! Oh, and a couple of orientals, too.

So, with Guerlain, I'd have my Vetiver, along with several orientals (Habit Rouge, Shalimar), then there's Jicky, L'Heure Bleue, Pamplelune, Mouchoir de Monsieur, even old-fashioned colognes like Imperiale and du Coq.
I'd be sure they'd resurrect Derby (which they just did for their boutique on the Champs Elysees), so that I could have a good leather chypre. The class I'd worry most about leaving behind would be my beloved Chypres: Mitsouko is a classic chypre, but I've never gotten it to work for me. I think Guerlain once had it's own version of Chypre....maybe I'd have to have that one resurrected too.

Thinking about my need for a good vetiver put Goutal and Malle in the running right away, but I can't think of any Goutal scents that would 'scratch my Oriental itch'. Malle actually comes close, with Vetiver Extraordinaire, Noir Epices and Musc Ravageur.

Faberge, and they'd have to resurrect Flambeau, Aphrodisia, Tigress, Woodhue, Straw Hat, Babe and whatever else has been discontinued. I could swear they had made a men's fragrance many years ago called Figaro, but I can't find info on it. I loved it madly (and the young man who wore it) so if they made it, they'd have to resurrect it. I know I should say Estee Lauder so I'll always have Estee, Private Collection, Cinnabar, White Linen, Youth Dew... but it's really a tough question, Mark! I miss the thick, rich Aphrodisia bath oil and the green, whipped body creme; not to mention Flambeau and Tigress!

The only thing about Faberge as my choice is that I'd miss so many favorite men's fragrances. Hmm... I may have to change my answer. Or not. [smiley=undecided.gif]

I actually fantasized about Serge Lutens' scents for a bit, but, as Lille_my says, they don't seem to lend themselves to daily, casual wear. I'm still waiting for someone to suggest BPAL: after all, you'd never have to wear the same scent twice as you explore their dozens (or is it hundreds? thousands?) of different scents.

This imaginary "lucrative" position on this imaginary island better be enormously lucrative and to hell with the dinosaurs, and I'll tell ya why, Mark. In the short time since I answered this question, I've suffered imaginary anxiety and panic attacks over the thought of doing without Estee Lauder fragrances and cosmetics. Just thinking about not wearing Angelique Encens brought on great big ol' imaginary hives. The imaginary eye-twitching started with my imaginary withdrawal from Must de Cartier and about 50 other fragrances. The imaginary nightmare was the result of my fear of not having Messe de Minuit at bedtime. I've decided this imaginary island better have a psychiatrist and a well-stocked pharmacy. Yep. Those dinosaurs better watch out for ME or they'll suffer extinction yet again. Ah, to heck with it. I imaginary quit! [smiley=sad.gif]
