Scents of Decade thread moved to top

I'm not sure everyone has adjusted to viewing the "Important Topics" section yet, so I'm directing your attention to it, where we've moved the Scents of the Decade thread. The first Scents of the Decade is set for June 24th and covers fragrances from 1880 to 1890. Everyone is invited to participate!

If anyone knows of fragrances from that time frame that aren't listed already, please add them. And if anyone is wishing to participate and in need of a decant, please shout out!

Okay- I'm game to participate, but...does anyone have a dab of something floral-ish from that decade they could send on to me? Â*Jicky is the only one I know of and it smells of chlorine on me (yikes!) Â*All the others I have not heard of and will understand if no one else has either. Â*

I just went back and added the fragrances from 1890 to the thread pinned in the 'Important Topics' section, and realized that I have six of them (I guess I really must be a fossil [smiley=grin.gif]):

Buckingham (Crown Perfumery)
Crown Fougère (Crown Perfumery)
Jicky (Guerlain)
Rêve d'Or (Piver)
Newport (original) (Caswell-Massey)
Eau de Quinine (Crown Perfumery)

Mark, you're not a fossil, you're a scent antiquarian with an enviable collection! [smiley=kiss.gif]

Mark, you DO have an enviable collection! Â*I have never heard of some of them. Â*

Would someone be able to provide a drop of Jicky? Â*I would be happy to trade samples with you. Â*I have everything listed on my POL profile: http://p075.ezboard.com/ushadesofble...le?language=EN

(hope that link worked!)

Ohhh, Thank You! [smiley=kiss.gif] I was afraid someone might try to hurt my feelings by calling me a Vintage Snob. And that I'd have to start wearing a Scarlet V or something.....and my eyesight's getting too bad for me to take up embroidery. [smiley=wink.gif] [smiley=evil.gif] [smiley=grin.gif]

But do you have a point, maybe there really could be a market for Scarlet Es (for elitists) and Ss (for snobs), too... [smiley=wink.gif] [smiley=evil.gif] [smiley=engel017.gif]
