I am just beginning my journey into fragrance, and I am loving every step. Finding BN is like coming home where people speak my language. I hope to learn many new accents and dialects among you all.

Hello, all!

I am a complete newbie to the fragrance world and a few helpful people suggested I take a look at basenotes. I'm very glad they did as it seems like a wonderfully informative, friendly place. I am very much looking forward to educating myself and starting my fragrance journey.

Best wishes,

Jessie

Hello Basenotes!

I've been stalking this site for over two years now without ever feeling the need to join. I've been obsessed with smells since I can remember and took personal scents up as a hobby after smelling Terre d'Hermès in a rental car. I. Had. To. Have. It.

Since, I've been ordering multiple samples from Perfumed Court to get a grasp on things. I thought Creed GIT was my end all be all until putting on Tom Ford GV today, and here we are. Ready to dive head first into the world of fragrance.

I'll be seeing you all around!

Good afternoon everyone. I just wanted to say hello and introduce myself. I'm Lucas, lucasai in here. I'm a cosmetic chemistry student.
I'm not new to perfume world, my adventure with them started few years ago. As a student I don't have a big collection - 6 bottles and around 30 samples.

I'm a newbie to basenotes so I need a few days to understand how to move around here.
Nice to meet you all.

Thank you, Grant -

I've already met numerous great people on here - honest, serious and well-informed.

Often on the main discussion boards, there is a lot of talk about about obscure and expensive fragrances and this can be quite overwhelming for a newcomer to the world of fragrance.

The "Just Starting Out" forum is designed to help people who are new to fragrances. You shouldn't be afraid to ask a question, no matter how silly it seems. We aim to provide a friendly area where people can come and learn. It should be a relaxed place but also very informative.

One very important point is helping out where ever you can. We should all try and think back to our early days in fragrance and think of the people who helped us out along the way. The "Just Starting Out" gives you a perfect opportunity to pass some of this information on.

Bear in mind that you are not obligated to post here if you are new to fragrances, but it is sometimes useful to converse with members at a similar level.

We will however sometimes move a thread into, or out of of this board, if we feel it is better suited or more likely to receive a better response elsewhere.

We hope that the "Just Starting" forum will be a gentle introduction to the wonderful world of perfumes. We also hope that some day in the future you will come back to help other users as they start their journey.

Hello! New BNer here, just signed up a few days ago and already appreciating everything I've learned so far from reading all the posts.

One question I have: how can we get a fragrance added to the directory that's missing? I'd like to add Pure Tiffany (http://www.tiffany.com/Shopping/Item.aspx?sku=19000664). I saw there was a forum for listing missing fragrances, but it seems I don't have permission to start a new thread there (maybe because I'm a new user?)

Thanks!

Frederic Malle Lys Méditerranée and Carnal Flower
Keiko Mecheri Osmanthus

Can't wait to try them out!

Hello,

I am new to this site and this is my first post, so please forgive any mistakes. I am just venturing into the world of perfumes but cannot individually identify the various "ingredients" you all talk about, such as amber, bergamon, tobacco, leather etc. Where in the UK could I buy a 'set' of these ingredients please so that I can lean to recognise each one?

Thank you for your help.

Hello all!

I've have been hanging around these boards for a while and decided it was time to register. What started as a simple search for Perry Ellis 360 Black reviews has flourished into an hobby, obsession, addiction, heck, even a way of life. After finding this site, I've even quit smoking as a direct result for my love of fragrance.

I look forward to learning more from you all and hopefully getting to know some of you.
