There are ongoing problems with the new chat room. It has lags where the board will not update for significant lengths of time. Last night it was lagging on me for 10 minutes and I gave up. Other times it is just several seconds, but long enough to make conversation disjointed. Also, it is not unusual to type out a message, submit it, and the board loses it.
I took a quick look on vbulletin.org to see if there are other chat room mods. There are, but I was not able to glean which is better. If I do, I'll share whatever I can. But I think the consensus in the chat room is people would prefer the previous chat room, even with its disadvantage of not being able to see who is in there before entering. Maybe other chat regulars can comment here too.
