Scent for a Birthday (27 year old female police officer)

Dear refined women on this board..

I'm looking to make a purchase on a scent for my sister-in-law..

The occasion is her 27th birthday. Some info:

- Athletic and attractive
- A new police officer
- We live in the mid-atlantic climate (Pittsburgh, PA)
- She has liked J-LO and Tommy Hilf but hasn't really experienced much else other than window shopping at local dept. store.
- Currently single
- Gets along with guys pretty good (somewhat of a tomcat), likes her alcohol but also likes to feel pretty. Enjoys being outspoken but unfortunately surrenders to subdued.

Any suggestions would be appreciated... Regards

Nate

This is sooo difficult. In particular without knowing the person.
The classics: maybe Coco Mademoiselle (perfect for a garconne-if she likes patchouli) or Chance (if she's more into vetiver)? Would you like to "draw" her more into a certain direction? So i'd go for something she'd never buy for herself, something more feminine... maybe Miracle (not too girly but still spicy-feminine) or even something sensual like Sensi by Armani or greenish-elegant: Gucci Envy? Ivoire for a classic and cool appearance? Or even Chanel No.19?
To be honest i never ever smelt a police officer male of female. :-)
Of course i imagine it to be leathery and slightly bitter but i guess you don't want something to fit her uniform but her private life, don't you?

Hmmm... don't ask me why but for some reason I can see this person wearing BLV or even BLV Notte... in face there are a few Bvlgari fragrances that I could see fitting her...

Notes in BLV are:

Top note: Bergamot, Ginger
Middle note: Wisteria, Flax flowers
Base note: Acacia, Vanilla, Musk, Sandalwood

Notes in BLV Notte are:

Top notes: Galanga, Tangerine, Bergamote
Middle note: Vodka, Acacia, Iris, Fleur de Tabac
Base note: Black Chocolate, Incense, Amber

If she's a brunette I could even see her being able to pull of
Bvlgari Black

Top note: Bergamot, Green Note
Middle note: Jasmine, Cedarwood, Sandal
Base note: Leather, Amber, Musk, Vanilla

Great questions and comments.. much appreciated. I would lend her more toward the "feminine retail" smelling perfumes (J-Lo and Tommy are past faves) as opposed to the "green" or clean style in the past. But just because she hasn't been exposed i believe. But come to think of it maybe i need to expand this to an "on-the-job" scent as well. Something versatile... i know this is difficult and i appreciate the effort.

PS.. She is a brunette.

Regards.

Try maybe J'adore by Christian Dior. Is fairly light but has some sexy elements.
I'll list a couple that I think are also similar IMO.

Sensi - Giorgio Armani
Boss Woman - Hugo Boss
Light Blue - Dolce & Gabbana

I think any of the above are nice. Maybe look for a gift pack which has the fragrance and lotion and shower gel. Often are a very good price and a good way to try new fragrances without buying a huge bottle.

What I can suggest is Lacoste Pour Femme or Gucci Envy. Both are clean, soft fragrances and shouting ones. You can also try Morgan de Toi. Maybe she can also like some of the fragrances of Police.

Take trip to the nearest perfumery/department store. Find intelligent Sales Assistant. Repeat what you've told us. Collect scent strips. Present to giftee with gift certificate for appropriate amount and let her make her own decisions.

P.S. I love JLo Miami Glow and TommyGirl. But I am blonde, an artist, of a certain age and live in the Sunny South. I go from Orientals to Greeny Greens - so I can't use myself as an example. If you see what I mean.

P.P.S. If you've already solved the problem - ignore all the above!!

If I were a brunette, athletic female police officer, I would wear BANDIT baby, though it is a scent that can be a bit tricky, I hated it upon first sniff, now I adore it and consider it a staple that speaks to my soul. IN fact, if I had a female police officer uniform, I would DEFINITELY wear it with Bandit. Or Tabac Blond. hmmm.... nice idea, that.

Chanel no 5

Ava Luxe Love's True Bluish Light

Black Orchid

Coco Mademoiselle
