I know that frags from the 70s get, in general, a lot if critique -too macho, too woody, too dated, too much! , so to "celebrate" this post i would like to know what's your favorite 70's male scent!

Congratulations on becoming a 5 star general at Basenotes

I was totally new in the fragrance scene in the early 70's and somebody gave me a bottle of Canoe for my BD. I wore that a lot then .

Hey, Congrats on the 1000th post!

Hands down, Pierre Cardin (1972) is my runaway favorite frag of the 70's. Many, many good memories and compliments go along with it. I almost feel as if everyone who loves fragrance should sample it at least once ... kinda like a "rite of passage". It gives you a real feel of what the 70's was like. It definitely went along with the times.

I second Pierre Cardin.

Canoe is from the 30's.

I have two.....Yatagan and Monsieur Musk. I used to get so many good comments everytime I wore Monsieur Musk. It used to be the only scent that I would wear. I broke my latest bottle...dropped it on the sink! Yatagan is the other that I get good compliments on. It's not has horrible as people make it out to be.

Congratulations on 1,000 posts of service to Basenotes members! CastorP makes great posts and deserves the thanks and credit of all of us. Welcome to dependency!

Yatagan for me, since helpful members posting before me have reminded me it's a 70s scent, but also the little known Jean Marc Sinon product, "Version Originale," or V.O. Another great one.

Definitely Equipage. I don't even regard it as outdated. Formal, masculin, clean,
can be worn by the young too.

And congratulations. May I know where is your name from?

Wow, 1000, an inspiration to us all .
I was a kid in the seventies, but my first frag in the 80s was a 70s: Azarro PH. I do not know many, but love Bogart (1975) and Eau d'Orange Verte (1979). Eau de Campagne (1974) is nice too, the latter two of course not being what one usually associates with the 70s.
And then there's the fascinating Hammam Bouquet - from the 1870s

I Like Equipage too!

I will post something about my name on the off-topic forum soon!

Thanks to everyone for their support!

I also want to post an apology for all the f*-ups i have done on my reviews , see i write very fast and i still don't double check the reviews before posting, so as to get a gut reaction to the fragrance and post whatever comes to my mind first for all the notes and layers and keep it simple... for some reason ,i think that if i ponder too much on a review, i will spoil it!!

I will double check for errors from now on, but will try to keep the reviews "naive" .

I will post later on My fav 70's (1970-1979) frags later on too!

I hadn't quite yet graced the planet =) , but close. As if my wardrobe icon wouldn't tip you off....my favourite 70's frag is Acier Aluminum (1973). Born just 7 years prior to myself.
You can't talk about the '70's without mentioning Paco Rabanne or Azzaro.

I just bought a small bottle of Equipage, and man is this stuff smooth! What a classy, classy 70's fragrance.

I have to agree with everyone who said Pierre Cardin.Ive encountered this fragrance throughout my teen years. When I began collecting fragrances,it was one of my first purchases.I bought a giant bottle(I think 8 ozs) around the holidays. This smells like something a gentleman would wear.On a personal note,I once was a security guard at a hotel. One tenant was this old guy who was always dressed impeccable...a real ladies man.He was sickly and I would always assist him.To make it short, he swore by Pierre Cardin.I cant help but to think of the old guy.
