Bazar - Christian Lacroix

I bought Bazar dirt cheap yesterday.

It's a fairly light fruity, woody, aquatic scent, and I really didn't think it would last all day.

But it easily did, and was delightful all day long.

I was surprised to see it getting only one thumbs up out of six at the Basenotes Directory. I find it odd that so many scents with woeful lasting power get the thumbs up, while those that actually do their job of actually being a scent all day long are scorned.

I got it at My Chemist in a gift set - 50ml bottle of EDT plus a 100ml tube of aftershave balm for $16.99. You don't have to buy it blind, test it out at David Jones.

Plus I picked up a 50ml bottle of Fred Hayman's Touch for $4.99 (very similar to Brut, but lasts longer)
Renato

P.S. If you like long lasting and fruity, don't forget to keep an eye out for Paris Hilton going cheap - it is great for summer.

One of this year's standouts in my opinion.

I entirely agree! Paris Hilton is this year's best summer fragrance.

I'll third that. Surprisingly good frag. Just Me isn't too bad either.

The only problem with them is ... I'm afraid to tell anyone who asks me what I'm wearing. I usually just say ... "Ah, it's French. You probably never heard of it".

I'm just sweating out the "try me" response ...

Acrid, harsh and synthetic. A major disappointment, particularly when I remember paying $90.00 for it several years ago. Bottle available.

Why would you pay $90 for something you thought was acrid, harsh and synthetic?

I was very inexperienced at the time. It was well before I developed a 300+ bottle collection and didn't know Obsession fom GIT.

It was only after I started collecting seriously and developed my nose and tried it again that I realized how horrible it is.

If you like it, cheers. The reviews here are decidedly mixed.

I too feel this is very run of the mill, longevity or not.
Have tried it several times and was let down every time, just nothing exciting in there. The new tumulte sounds better though, striking flacon if nothing else...

I couldn't resist it, at that price (approx US$12.75) I went back and bought another Bazar gift set today.

Well i bot it frm the same source as u did...and unfortunately it just doesnt stay on me...it just vanishes in bout an hour...i can just smell the spices for a while and then its gone....how strange....perfumes seem to have a mind of their own really....but at that price i have no complaints...the shave balm wud hopefully be a better performer.....

That's unfortunate. How much do you put on?

I put on 6 squirts under my clothes (3 on each side) and had it hanging around from 9 am till after 7 pm - and I always complain when scents don't last that long. This one lasted so well on me I went and bought two more gift sets.

If I have a problem with a scent like you have with this one, I double dose - spray on my six squirts, wait a minute, then spray another six exactly over the top of the previous ones. This usually gets a good run out of them, but I empty the bottle twice as quickly though - but it's better than a total waste.

I just bought a 1.7 OZ Bazar at Marshall's for $9.99. I have not worn it yet.

I also bought YSL Rive Gauche Light (4.2 OZ) for $24.99 at the same store.

It'll be interesting to see if it lasts on you. It seems to be very variable by the responses.

I didn't know there was a Rive Gauche Light - which is surprising to me, as I think Rive Gauche is a relatively light scent in the first instance.

Well i did give it another go this time being very liberal in spraying on my chest...and i must say it did last on me this time...but i had to keep pullin my tshirt from my neck to put my nose under my t shirt to get a whiff of it....doesnt give out that sillage that makes you feel you are really wearing something....btw the shaving balm goes under the scanner today.....

Bazar held a special memory for me.

I once wore this fragrance to the Casino with a very beautiful girl. I think Bazar brought me luck, none of my friends win except me!

Its not very natural smelling but has that something thats addictive. I would've stocked up at that price as well!

Maybe it was the beautiful girl

I wore it yesterday for the first time.

Here's what I got - not aquatic at all. Rather, more like "GAAAASP" John Varvatos and Lolita Lempicka! It was nice. Not nice enough, though, and I'm going to swap it. It's an oriental to my nose.
To me it smelled like AdG with a touch of Fahrenheit.

Like liquid sea water - fresh, understated, unique (at the time), a precursor to BLV Aqua I feel.

If I had east access to it, I would add it to my collection.

Tumulte, however, is full tilt on the other side of the spectrum!

Interesting responses we've had to this one.
Many who have it don't like it that much.
And those who remember it fondly, don't have it!

How does this come about?

I guess there are some fragrances that you know is good, but just don't feel its good enough for a purchase unless its cheap?

I too think its like BLV Aqua, interestingly I always thought that Aqua smells like AdG + Fahrenheit!
