anybody know a good wine forum?

I currently work for an importer of norwegian salmon, but an opportunity has opened up for a position as a regional rep. for an importer of South African wine (more pay, more travel, more opportunity to dress dashingly). However, my wine knowledge is currently very limited. Anybody know a good place to lurk, in hopes of learning my Frederic Malles from my Kenneth Coles in the world of fine wine?

Not a forum, but this is an amazingly informative website from one of the oldest wine merchants in the UK.

not sure if they have a forum yet, but klwine.com is a great wine shop in the bay area, and their website is informative and their reviews/descriptions accurate. look at the columns in their monthly newsletters (archived on the site). i've learned plenty

best of luck - sounds like a dream job to me!

I haven't found a tremendous forum. The one on erobertparker.com is probably among the best I've seen, but its a pay site. winespectator.com has a forum, and is also a pay site.

A couple of other things you might want to try:

Cellartracker ( www.cellartracker.com ) - has a wealth of tasting notes for a variety of high-end and low-end wines. It's the most robust, public repository of tasting notes that I'm aware of.

Blogs - there's a lot of them out there. Here's a few you might want to check out to get you started. Vinography.com has links to a bunch of others
