The first annual "Excellent Poster" awards!

I believe it is due time for all the excellent posters that are on this site to get the credit they have coming to them. Some incite humor in thier posts. Others lend us some of thier time to help with thier well informed information, and much appreciated opinions. For everyone there is a poster that stands out to them. I will get the ball rolling and say "hats off" to my #1 poster, Scentemental.

^ I actually think yours are pretty good.

Serpent's are also fun to read.

For me, its a tie between Scentemental and Serpent.

Serpent is the "simon cowell" of basenotes - he says it like he sees 'em, backing up his opinions with substantial reasoning, and adding that certain
(d)zing! to the forum.

Scentemental - very few here can match his knowledge of fragrances. His posts are always an amazingly in-depth read.

There are WAY too many for me to name!!! So many people contribute wonderfully to BN. But while we're dolling out praise I suggest a huge round of applause to Grant & all our wonderful moderators!

Wonderful idea for a thread, by the way!

I would vote for Serpent as well, he would always make great suggestion when I asked a question. I look forward to his great knowledge and humor when I ask a question, he always has an answer.. I also enjoy the company of Joel Cario, he is a great member on BN and a excellent seller/swapper.

Agreed on Serpent. Always enjoy his posts. Guess I haven't been poking my nose around the forum long enough to be very familiar with Scentemental.

I would have said IndieGuy, but he's gone for a while.

So my vote goes to Serpent, too.

Dust_B is the best.

I always eagerly await a review by Scentimus.

Over the years, I've noticed that I either always agree with him, or wind up agreeing with him after a while.

So I've decided - why bother with nugatory effort?
I'll just read his reviews and let him make up my mind for me.

Oh my! How very tough. I am nearly always impressed with any posts from Serpent, Dust_B, narcus, pluran, Renato, scentimus, to name a few. However, my scientific background leads me to always look forward to Scentemental's posts, so he gets my nod.

That is why there should have been different categories.

1) Scientific poster

2) Impressive poster

3) Knowleadgable poster

4) Funny poster

5) Makes you think poster

6) All around happy and positive poster (lightninrod, comes to mind here)

7) Best story teller poster (Indie hands down )

8) Always sarcastic poster

I just threw the last one in I don't think we have any

Its is really hard for me to choose , all the names mentioned so far are great.

I really think Robyogi belongs up there in this list as well as some from the women's side like Quarry .

There are many great posters. All of the aformentioned names included. Wicozani above being one of the absolute best posters and reviewers. It would be hard to list them all. Two of the all-time best posters and reviewers are Foetidus and MonkeyManMatt. No question there. And of course, Milamber. His posts and reviews have always been most unique and substantial.

For me, the highest honors go to Scentemental. His reviews and posts are in a league of their own and always provide me with great inspiration.

Another nod for Scentemental.
I read BN everyday, but don't often find much reason to post. I can't pass this by, though. I agree with those already suggested, particularly MonkeyManMatt, and would add Pluran to the list as well.

However, like many others here, I must say Scentemental is in a league of his own. Sometimes, I go to his profile just to find his most recent posts.

Of all the great posters on BN, he has perhaps been most influential in shaping my notions about fragrance. His posts are the embodiment of reason, classiness, and wisdom. In a community of dyed-in-the-wool fragrance fans and excellent posters, Scentemental stands apart.

My vote goes to Scentemental. He's the best.

I agree with all of the above, and may i also mention Vijay "Maisonstinky". His posts are always positive and informative.
And who can ever forget his doing the rainman thing while the internet's down and getting kissed by the neighbor's wife. LOL.

I like where Vijay is going with this- as fun as it is to give free flowing praise, maybe we should have a more formal (yet still fun) award ceremony. Just a thought. Btw, I think that everyone who has been mentioned has more than deserved it, and many people who's names were not mention are also fantastic posters.

There is one person off the top of my head who deserves a mention who's name I didn't see: Envyus

Just as with fragrances, there are many aspects of good posting. Communicating in a forum is different from writing good reviews. And every single poster I know has particular strenghts, or weaknesses, and usually a little of both. All of the above is worth a separate thought, and should perhaps be part of an overall rating. It would be impossible for me to make a serious recommendation now. I miss a few that were still active at the beginning of the year. However, one who has challenged and inspired me in bad and best ways of web communication, but has never bored us a moment - Serpent!

It's Serpent, Sentemental and Milamber for me.
I almost feel that I insult so many fantastic members by *not* voting them, I would like to name atleast 20.

No votes for Paul G. and scenteur7? These two more than deserves my vote for their excellent overall contribution to this community.

Robyogi's posts are interesting read, also from a philosophical point of view.

Unless someone else chimes in I am going to have to call Scentemental the winner. But all of you have mentioned some great members thats all contribute to the site.

I'll wholeheartedly second this motion. While Basenotes has a whole crew of great posters (SixCats' inIMITABLE...... Enthusiasm!!; the late great Indie_Guy's knack for a great yarn; Stuigi's decades of frag buying/trading experience; PigeonMUrderer's graziness... the list is too long to continue) every thread that Scentemental chimes in upon is immesurably improved. His is virtually the Last Word on all things frag-related.

Including all the great posters/reviewers mentioned before, one good reviewer - Naed Nitram .
I find it hard to pick one, anyway, too many do a great job helping others.
