Banana Republic Slate

After sampling it twice I have to admit that it's a very nice fragrance. Some may say it's boring, ordinary, one of those damn aquatics etc. But in fact it's a quality aromatic-green scent which is not a clone of others. It slightly reminded me of 212 by Carolina Herrera + something else I can't put my finger on right now. I know this type of colognes is not very popular among Basenoters but it's worth trying anyway.
All in all I was rather impressed with Banana Republic Discover Collection ( both men's and women's lines ).

It smells VERY similar to Chrome...

I liked this one, but it reminded me too much of Chrome to justify getting it.

I tried the Black Walnut tonight & it just smells really weird to me. Out of the two, I prefer Slate. But, I'll be sticking w/ my Banana Republic Classic before I buy any other BR scents.

I agree with your Chrome comparison in general since they both represent the similar concept ( of freshness ) but Chrome is more citrusy and a bit harsher while Slate is milder and greener.

I liked Black Walnut though.
