What fragrances did you wear as an adolescent? - Page 2

My first ones were Avon Wild Country, and Sven by Yardley. I wish I could find some of the latter just for old times sake, I loved it.
KethÃ*n you had quite an evolved and expensive taste for a young man. I could relate more to DJB's list from the 80's The skin musk you mentioned might have been Jess Bell Skin Musk for men. I had that also and would love to have it again. It amazingly had some smiliar notes to MKK's drydown.

In order of use from youngest age 15 to 22 from the late 1970's to early 80's

British Sterling
Avon Wild Country
Jovan Musk

After Joining the Navy:

Jovan Sex Appeal
Jovan Grass Oil
Pierre Cardin
Prince Matchabelli
Jess Bell Skin Musk for Men
Polo
Halston 1-12, Z-14 and 101
Original Burberry
The Baron
Gray Flannel
Eau Sauvage
Guerlain Vetiver
Darakkar Noir
Jacomo de Jacomo

I used to regift English Leather gift sets that I'd get from my Uncles. I tried to like Aramis and actually bought a bottle. My brother used to douse himself in it during the late disco 70's. I never actually liked Aramis. I took a long break from Frags and would occasionally wear patchouli or sandalwood oil or Guerlain Vetiver. It wasn't until 2 years ago that my love for fragrances was resparked with the help of BN. What a long strange trip it's been since then.

I bathed in polo ( :
used it as air freshener, even spayed it all over my car. I still have a bottle of it in my lincoln right now and use it as an air freshener every once in a while. I keep a small atomizer of all may favorite frags in my car at all times.
Canoe or Pub loved them both
Paco Rabanne pour homme
Oleg Cassini
YSL pour homme
I didn't wear any fragrances as an adolescent. I bought my first fragrance when I was in my mid twenties (it was Paco Rabanne). A little later I bought a bottle of Azzaro ph (which I never did wear very much). Now I own about 60 bottles.
Polo, Old Spice and Halston Z-14. Still think very well of all of them.
That was in the 70s-80s, so basically all today's Powerfrags and Old-man scents. Still my favourites today.

  8. Eau De Hongerie (from a sexy Swiss female Calculus tutor, learned a lot more than differential equations from her)
  9. Yatagan (can't remeber where it came from)
  10. Kinze ten (from a rather cute German foreign exchange girl in my Senior year in HS)
I'm impressed by the variety in some of your adolescent collections! I was happy alternating between Drakkar Noir and Swiss Army. To change it up, sometimes I'd mooch some of the old man's Polo.
My first was Brut, and then later, in high school, Swiss Army, and, in college, Polo Sport.
Polo Sport once in a while
In order:

14 year old - Signoricci (original), from Papa
15 year old - VC&A pour homme, from Mama
16 year old - Eau Sauvage, from Papa
18 year old - YSL pour Homme, from Grandmother
19 year old - Drakkar (original), bought by me
20 year old - Jules, bought by me
21 year old - Halston Z-14, bought by me
21 year old - Macassar, from Papa

At school I was referred to "the guy who always smells fine", at the antipodes to a South African guy called by classmates "Hedi", from "Hediondo", meaning in "foul smelling" in Spanish.

Vicks Vapour Rub was so often my "Scent of the Day" when I was growing up, I think this is why I have such an affection for camphor. I was also thrilled beyond belief for the smell of Noxema and Aquavelva.
i'm still a teen so i guess whatever i'm using now.
i was never really into cologne until november 07 and before then the only thing i remember using was whatever i freeload off someone. I was never too big on body sprays but i did use tag/axe from time time. the only bottle i remember having and using was when i was in the six grade i think the name was aspen some cheap drug store scent, i used the hell outta that until i lost the bottle lmao i still remember getting compliments like crazy from that.

Halston 1-12
and last but not least.....
Kouros

A Blue Stratos man....Loved the stuff, but cant find it anymore...I found the original Burberry for Men,with the blue cap with lion on it,my own personal scent,it was me. Runner up, Karl Lagerfeld,,women would bury their face between my pecs and thats all it took..LOL Halston Z-14..still like it.Oscar de Laurente for Men is a fav.As long as it is lightly applied,in the right places.Oddly,I love Pinaud Clubman..the stuff the barber used after a haircut, and shave, when they did shaves.Still use the body powder.Like Bayrum too,for work. Of course, went thru my dad's stuff as a kid..Prince machibelli,Jade East,Hai karate..all smell alike.Wish I could find the original Burberry for men with the blue cap..its extinct,,but I consider it one of their best,as did many of my friends. To many colognes for guys today smell like Drakkar Noir..and I cant stand it,it has the powerful "smell you coming for a block" attributes of Aramis. Although Tuscany,by Aramis is a winner,if used sparingly, again in the right spots.
4711 & Brut were there in the house and I liked them but from about 16 after trying Patchouli Oil a few times I opted for Mysore Sandalwood Oil that the guy at the one and only head shop in Wellington was importing from India (along with some other very interesting stuff).
Old Spice, Brut, Hai Karate.
CK Escape was my jam.(now re-packaged as Bond No. 9 I Love NY for Him)

When I was 14 my gf bought me "Navy" cologne from a drugstore. Even then I knew it sucked.

I would also steal sprays of my Dad's Hugo by Hugo Boss. Then, one day he got Eau Sauvage and I tried that without sniffing the sprayer first. Big mistake when you're 15.
Gonna get hated for this but Preferred Stock. Didn't know any better
post #90 of 128
Why would you get hated for Preferred Stock? I don't think any of us were wearing any 5-star fragrances! (or 2 star even)
Back in the 80's when I was a teen, I wore Stetson and British Sterling usually.
I never liked strong, 80s powerhouse fougeres, so I always liked Stetson because it was different and sweet (unlike most 80s scents were). I hated Drakkar and Polo when I was in school. I associated them with macho, bullying jocks. The sweeter, Stetson was much more my personality.
I only started to really get into fragrances in the last year, I'm 25 now, but in high school when I wanted to smell "good" for the ladies I had a bottle of some Kirra stuff I bought at PacSun that I thought was the best...(oh me) I also had some adidas aftershave, and a bottle of axe....for shame younger me, for shame....

I was always getting some cheap gift set from the drug store on Christmas from different relatives but i done actually remember ever wearing them.
Brut, Stetson, Possession (obsession rip off that i wish I still had)

First thing i ever remember actually wearing was Preferred stock, then CK One and CK BE that a girl at school gave me.
Then whatever a friend had-Polo Sport, Curve, Herrera....
Bought AdG and Issey when I had a job and a little money and wore those for years. My parents would have never considered "wasting" money on such things.

Chaps was my first cologne - a gift from my godfather. Judging by the responses so far, I was in rarefied company - and I can't blame you guys for that. Heh.

Pierre Cardin Pour Monsieur is what I can remember from decades ago.
Pierre Cardin
Tommy
Chaps (the original)
I used to wear Drakkar Noir
Graduated HS in 91, rarely did dudes wear cologne. I occasionally wore Eternity. No Internet and no fancy department stores we didn't have much to choose from. Cool water was my first purchase for myself, this was my 90's frag, still used cologne very sparingly. Ex wife, gf at the time got me issy, and lemale(my mid 20's). Now I started rocking frags on more occasions cuz I liked it and she liked how i smelled.

These kids got it good with the Internet. I'd probably still be buying the cheap design frags.
Jade East
Grey Flannel

Eddie Bauer - Adventurer (I believe. Had just a flying duck or goose on the green bottle).

That reminded me I had Pierre Cardin Talcum Powder as a kid. Wasn't sure quite how to take advantage of it.

Perry Ellis. 'Twas some strong stuff.
Well it has gotten a brief mention so I'll elaborate just a bit. In high school in the early seventies there was a juice that you did have to go to the Men's Store to buy called Dante' it came in a red glass bottle shaped like in the form of a roman soldier bust. More specifically it was called Dante' Inferno. Armed with a bottle of this stuff, you didn't even need to be a jock, all you needed was the juice, some wheels, (even a beat up rag top would do!) and a little cash for gas and wha la! Insto presto you had a ride full of the cutest Honey's (insert your town here) could provide. Had I known then, I'd have stockpiled that stuff. Nothing on the market today comes close to it, not even Molocule 01. So now a days I have to use my charm and wit! (alter-ego: Yeah and how's that working out for ya?)
Polo Double Black
Clinique Happy
A scent of Tommy Helfiger
and so many samples
I was a Paco Rabanne Pour Homme and a Jazz sort of person then in my early 20's CK1. I have fond memories of Paco Rabanne - practically bathing in it before heading off, shoes shined and hair greased for a night being rejected by girls way out of my league...
Original Polo in the 80s
None.

Stetson

English Leather. Christmas gift from grandma.
Royal Copenhagen. From dad.

My best friend wore Kouros, believe it or not. And those teenage girls loved it!

Cool Water, Aramis Life, YSL Jazz, Diesel Zero Plus. I must get some of these as they represent a fantastic time in my life
