Help, please Issey Miyake EDP . . .

Which my gf liked and once owned. She's certain it was EDP strength, not EDT and knew nothing about a 'refillable' version.

In contacting various sellers I've been told that

1. They're the same

2. The non refillable 'classic' was a special edition version, hence the higher price.

3. The non refillable classic was not a spray, and was eua de perfume strength, whereas the refillable edp is really 'eua de parfait' (I thought that was an ice cream) and it's a spray.

Who is right?

The clock is ticking
on this surprise gift
help would be most welcome

THX,

Mario.

Hi Mario,

No, the EDT and the EDP are NOT the same. No matter what any salesperson tries to tell you. The EDP is in a clear bottle and the EDT is in a frosted bottle. So it's quite easy to tell the difference.
I think the refillable bottle you are talking about is a brushed stainless steel bottle. It's nice looking, but I don't think it's still around (and it's expensive - smaller amount for more money; you are really paying for the bottle).

Good luck with the surprise present!

Ayala: Thanks. I guess I made myself unclear, though.
Both the refillabe and 'classic' are EDP strength, not EDT --

( And there ain't no such thing as eau de parfait, apparently)

I just got back from Bloomingdale's where they assured me that both EDP's were the same juice.
They've got the 'classic' in .8 oz 'limited edition' and the refillable in 1.6.

HOWEVER---unless I'm losing my marbles at a faster rate than usual, the notes listed in back, though similar, had some differences in the middle notes---and I forget whcih one had more or less ingredients . . .

Do they smell the same?

Thanks in advance,

Mario the befuddled.

I am not familiar enough with the limited edition package (never bought it) or the notes listed, but I am pretty sure that if you buy the EDP (which again comes in the clear bottle, not the frosted one), you will be fine. The EDT smells different, and I personally dislike it. In fact, I prefer the pure parfum for myself...

And no, there is no such thing as Eau de Parfait! But "Eau de Parfum" is pronounced very similarly by us who don't know French.
Parfait is prounounced "Par-Feh" or something along these lines.
Parfum is pronounced "Par-Fuh" or something like that.
Hence the confusion I think.

And to clarify: EDT is short for Eau de Toilette; EDP is short for Eau de Parfum. The EDP is more concentrated than the EDT.

The eau de parfum is indeed the bottle in the clear bottle, it has a screw cap that can be opened and refilled. The sizing has recently been changed. It used to be available in a 50mL and a purse spray. It is not available in a 75mL, 25mL, and the purse spray. The new refills are sized as 75mL and can be used to refill the old sizes as well.
