What do you do for a living?

We already have threads on what movies we watch, our pets, our pictures, etc., etc. So I was just wondering what everyone on here does for a living? I myself am a office worker for a rather large chain of furniture stores. How about you guys?

Not much, to be quite honest, and I blame Basenotes for that fact...

I`m a very inefficient part-time secretary for my husband, and also trying hard to be a good housewife (not very successful when it comes to that part either, I`m afraid).

I've actually got two roles at my current job. I continue to be a unix sysad and support a number of legacy applications (QIP (IP Mgmt) and some billing/usage stuff (RADIUS records)). My new position I'm migrating into is network and systems monitoring. I'm dealing with Lucent products for monitoring VOIP equipment, Foundry stuff to monitor their load balancers, Netcool and Nervecenter for switch/router monitoring and I do various data analysis and cleannup tasks as required (mostly SQL and Perl stuff).

All of this for BellSouth, where we're waiting for Nov 3 to see if the merger with AT&T will go forward.

Soon(very soon?) to be retired stockbroker. Been with the same firm(thru several name changes) since I started here in 1983. Prior to that, I sold office products(remember the completely new typewriter, the IBM Selectric? ) for IBM for over 10 years.

Right now I am a Supervisor at a Plastic Factory. Oh, if only I could bottle and sell the smells from that place. I can't tell you how good it is to put on my SOTD after I get home from very strong, noxious, dehumanizing odors.

Previously I painted the logos on Ice Rinks. It was a great job. I use to brag about how I got a great, reasonably paying job from a Fine Arts degree.
No more, now I am humbled. Except of course when it comes to my 'high falutin' perfume tastes.

Currently, our two main contracts are (1) predicting commodity and currency prices for one of the New York investment banking firms, and (2) using behavioral profiling to improve targeted advertising on the internet.
