Sillage is the "trail " that your fragrance leaves behind. I think your Mugler A*Men should have a good sillage, or at least on me it does. Welcome to Basenotes!

It helped me to understand when I realised sillage is French for "wake" - as in what a boat leaves behind.

In perfume terms, sillage really depends as much on the wearer and application as it does to the formula itself. Your body may react with the fragrance in such a way as to "kill" the sillage, or amplify it - you just have to experiement.

Sillage in french also means Slipstream in english wich in physics means "a pocket of reduced pressure following behind an object moving through a fluid medium."

But the french use it as a maritime context, and that would mean the liquid trace marking the passage of a boat or a plane.

Nothing to do with perfumes but just so you know.
