Which of these are not suited to hot climate?

Hello everybody,

I've been looking into buying (already own some in this list) some of these, but first I'd like to ask which are not suited to hot weather. I live in a city which is very humid all year long and temperature is never below ~73F.

While at it, please help me determine which are day and which are night fragances, and how many spritz are (should) be needed for each of them.

Here's the list:

Gucci Envy
Givenchy Very Irresistible
Givenchy Gentleman
Rive Gauche
Live Jazz
L'eau par Kenzo
Dolce & Gabbana pour Homme
Bvlgari pour Homme
Bvlgari Black
Cool Water
CK Be
Guerlain Vetiver
Acqua di Gio
Romeo Gigli
Polo Blue
Antaeus
Azzaro Visit
L'eau D'Issey
Fahrenheit
Nemo

Other suitable suggestions are also accepted.

Thanks in advance

I would add D&G pour homme to the list too. But then again, I hate that scent in any weather

i live in a similar environment (south Florida) and i wear pretty much anything and everything i want. and i get away with it why? because i work in a climate controlled environment 9-10 hours of the day, so the temp outside isn't really a factor. i wore Visit last week, got great compliments. I wear Gentleman often and get compliments. The last time I work Envy, two of my coworkers swore they were going on their lunchbreak to buy it for their husbands.

So take all advice on "cold weather only" fragrances with a grain of salt

Well, the humidity here is TRULY high. So that's a problem.

And I work in a climate controlled environment as well, but I go out too, especially at night and it's rather hot. :/

Is Dolce & Gabbana pour Homme really not ok for hot climates? I really wanted to try it :O

I live in a pretty hot humid climate too. I agree that if you work in an air conditioned climate, it becomes less of an issue (although one still has to get oneself to work, often on public transport..). I would estimate that during hot weather, I would wear "hot" frags most of the time, with an occasional flirtation with a more powerful frag.

I think these would be very suitable (the reverse of what you asked, I know):

Live Jazz
L'eau par Kenzo
Bvlgari pour Homme
Cool Water
Guerlain Vetiver
Polo Blue
L'eau D'Issey

These would work, but would be pretty powerful:

Givenchy Gentleman
Rive Gauche
Antaeus
Gucci Envy

Have you thought about Terre d'Hermes? It's perfect. Also Chanel Pour Monsieur Concentree.

I live in a hot humid climate, too, and of the ones you named, I would be careful of these:

Gucci Envy
Givenchy Gentleman
Rive Gauche
Romeo Gigli
Antaeus
Azzaro Visit
Fahrenheit

the rest should be pretty safe. The following are my favorites for hot humid weather:

Live Jazz
L'eau par Kenzo
Bvlgari pour Homme
Guerlain Vetiver
L'eau D'Issey

I enjoy wearing heavier frags in hot weather, it gives them a completely different edge. However, I still prefer fresh / citrus / marine etc frags in summer.

my two cents...

Gucci Envy - Cool day/night
Givenchy Very Irresistible - night
Rive Gauche - cool day/night
L'eau par Kenzo - any
Dolce & Gabbana pour Homme - night
Bvlgari pour Homme - any
Cool Water - any
CK Be - any
Guerlain Vetiver - day
Acqua di Gio - day
Polo Blue - any
Azzaro Visit - cool day/night
L'eau D'Issey - day
Fahrenheit - night

I went to an art exhibition with my mother one time and wore rive gauche PH in the hot, humid, tropical climate and she that it smelled fresh. I agree with her, I think rive gauche is fresh and cooling, isn't that weird?

Yes but no. I think of it as a cold weather scent, true, but can certainly see why it might smell "fresh" in warm climates. The anise note alone makes it very "crisp" on me, and there's something very like vetiver in the drydown that also keeps it smelling "crisp" on Yours Truly.

To me, it's a sweater weather scent. But perhaps that should change -- maybe I should at least give it a try in warm weather.
