Feast menu

I'm already cooking for Thanksgiving here in the US. Turkey, stuffing, cranberry sauce, sweet potatoes, green beans, deviled eggs, lime/pineapple/creamcheese jello thingy, jam cake.

We have the same thing, by demand, each year, with perhaps one or two side dishes added. I think my family would have a collective nervous breakdown if the menu changed!

What means holiday feast to you?

mmmmmmm omgomgomg that sounds so goooooood! PLEASE HAVE ME OVER FOR DINNER!!!

Holiday feast to me (say for Christmas) is: turkey w stuffing, roast beef, holiday ham w pinapple honey sauce/glaze, yams/sweet potatos and other baked/steamed veggies like carrots/peas/etc, steamed rice (I'm Chinese), egg nog w brandy, cognac, scotch (haha yes, I'm a drinker), tea/wine mulled w spices, gingerbread, etc, etc, etc.

Three meats is more than I can handle! My most often added requests are for deserts, and that's easiest too, since I can make them a couple days ahead. Magic cookie bars, fresh coconut cake are on for this year.

Funny, nobody here ever asks for more steamed vegetables.

Ohhh the reason for the three meats is because once a year around Christmas, ALLLLL my relatives and semi-distant relatives come over for a huuuge potluck so there around 50 people

When I was a kid, my grandmother used to cook such delicious and such large Thanksgiving dinners that the only way I could get comfortable afterwards was to lie on the floor with my belt unbuckled, moaning in pain from eating so much. But I think those were the best meals I ever had.

Well, that good, I guess! My Magic cookie bars are done, and my Magic eating machines have eaten three, plus turkey sandwiches. Tomorrow I frost the cakes, devil the eggs I boiled tonight, and make jello stuff. Today's turkey was with sage, rosemary, marjorum, black pepper, and tangerine slices under the skin and inside. It's good! So, I make another one (yup, compulsive) on Thursday for the table but I always relax when the first one turns out good. It's a back-up in case I get so distracted the table one overcooks or is nasty dry.

I have such fun with this. It's like Mission Impossible.

I'm baking today my contributions to our family Thanksgiving dinner. I'll be brinking Pumpkin Gooey Cake, Macadamia Nut Pie, dinner rolls, broccoli/rice casserole, and spinach dip. DH is smoking a ham. There will also be Champagne Turkey, dressing, mashed potatoes, gravy, green beans, and the best part: dressing!
