I'd like to get my girlfriend a silver wishbone style necklace for xmas, mainly because it's the only type of jewelery I've ever heard her suggest that she'd like to have. She has a severe stylistic aversion to bling (a reaction against her upbringing amid the heavily adorned femininity of Long Island's Turkish emigree community, in my humble diagnosis) and so it needs to be understated (no rocks, no gold). I've never bought jewelery before, so advice from the more experienced BNers would be appreciated. I'm looking to spend in the ballpark of $200.

This is the first Montale fragrance that I've liked enough to merit purchasing a full bottle. I would like to wax poetic about this frag, but Darvant and others have pretty much captured it's...

Iced bergamot captures the essence of the Caribbean, highlighted with the subtle spice of fresh pepper, white woods, blue lavender and sensual musk. Got this at TJ Maxx. not bad stuff. I...

Really great men's fragrance. Quality is there and longevity is above average. Smells sophisticated and clean without being overly done or overpowering. I recommend this one 100%.

Purchased on a whim. I like this as an aftershave, though it isn't very strong IMHO. The lime is very pronounced and didn't burn too much as an after shave. I would recommend it for those...

Phil- there is a Zales Outlet in Wrentham, MA. Is that anywhere near you? I bought a pendant there several days ago for my girlfriend. They are a large established retailer with a good reputation. The outlet will save you an additional $50-200 on most pieces under $500 off their usual competitive prices and they have a big selection.

I see your trouble Phil... Fortunately jewelry fashion has come tof help you in the latest years: jewels style has become more linear and clean, preferring silver, white gold and platinum to yellow gold; even stone cuts are often squared or smoothed not to give that opulent overdose.
In this trend, another metal has come to a leading role for the less expensive (but not less stylish) lines: steel. Even the most famous jewelers like Tiffany, Bulgari or Cartier have done steel jewels. Often steel is coupled also with rubber or leather. Now, I don't have any suggestion about where you can find there in NY something nice for your gf, but I guess a trip downtown will give you some ideas
