I am sure the BN community is much bigger than the number of voters (170) might indicate. This very thread had 3000 visitors in 18 months, and I assume most members only visit the perfume discussions regularly. It is not uncommon for SOTD threads to collect 800 views within a few days only. Draw your own conclusions from that. 17% (or 25%) homosexuals would be far beyond the statistical average, but nobody could honestly say whether or not this is representative for the BN community.Whatever it may be - this is only one poll amongst so many. More important is defining ones own position in life and then realizing as many dreams as are possible without harming others. [ All young Swiss seem to be into perfume nowadays as the success of new locations where you can liberally sniff or buy them nowadays shows. Testing perfume seems to have become a favorite pastime of school kids in towns, and you see any combination of young lovers these days sampling things from all shelves, just as they do in France or Germany.]

The "statistical average" might depend on what people are owning up to...

Anytime! As long as you're happy and smell good, that's all that matters.

I prefer intimate encounters with the female (biological) persuasion. I have experienced both sides of the coin. Am I gay? Well I'm a very happy guy that's for sure I'm sometimes viewed as being a friend of Dorothy by the way I cross my legs, dress, laugh openly, can appreciate handsome men, and am a fragrance hobbyist

There's a cover for every pot

Oh yea, one more thing, If you're having a conversation with me involving gay/straight bashing, racial slurs, or abusing women or children, I'm going to punch you in the mouth
Just wanted you to know that up front

I'll do the time.

There's a lot of diversity within the straight sector, too. I'm essentially a straight woman with a lot of masculine tendencies. My brain doesn't seem to be wired the same way as other women's. During my teenage angst years I felt such horror at my body's feminine attributes that I wondered whether I was transexual. The thing was - I definitely liked guys - it was just that I had an extreme horror of pregnancy and motherhood and was disgusted that my body was changing to prepare itself for that. I'm a lot more comfortable in my skin now, but I've had to haul a lot of iron to get it to a shape more to my liking, and I still have no inclination to have children (I'm 41 now). I also like to lift big weights (and have zero tolerance for silly girls who come to the gym and faff about with the smallest dumbells they can find), watch action movies and play computer games, hate shoe shopping (unless it's for trainers), but conversly, I like make-up and perfume and wear my hair long. One of my ex-colleagues called me "bloke bird" which is about right.
I have a longterm boyfriend but nearly all my close friends are gay men. I guess this is not so surprising.

of course it isn't out of line, how upthight would this site be if you couldn't ask for sexual orientation in an open forum. i mean you don't have to answer!

I found the results interesting. someone should make a poll for women and one for men, i take it both women and men lurk in the off topic section..

And my single friends don't exactly fantasize about breaking up straight marriages/partnerships either.

Totally! You said it. Thankfully, I think the thread has recovered.

I would just say "straight", but that doesn't do the subject justice in my book. My earliest memories were thinking how beautiful women and girls were to me. I was sexually attracted to women before I even knew what sex was. The first time a girl kissed me, time stood still. When a guy kissed me - heck - it just didn't work. But when I found out that there were guys (and gals) whose early feelings were exactly like mine - except they were for people of the same sex - it was kind of an "aha" moment for me. I'm not shy about supporting gay marriage for that reason, despite being something of a clodhopper. I'm really happy for Jaime. Everybody deserves to enjoy marriage if they want.

Anyway, I'm married (option 8?), but definitely not option 4! My European heart loves to look at all the beautiful ladies, but my American upbringing keeps me strictly faithful to my beautiful Asian wife. Despite the fact that she's yelling at me at this very moment and telling me to get the %$#@ off the friggin' computer. Yes dear!

PS - I love Basenotes because we're united by a strange love that probably appears weird to everybody - gay, straight, and.... whatever!
