Help me buying a christmas gift for my wife!

Hi Girls,

I'm a fragrance addicted as most of you, but I only know about Men's fragrances and I need to give a perfume to my wife at Christmas. The problem is that I just don't know which one!!!!
I intend to order it online, I don't have patience to try feminine scents at perfume shops, so i'd like you to suggest me a good sweet (but not cloying) fragrance. She wears 'Emporio Armani She' but I know It's not a favourite of hers. She once told me she liked Dior Addict, but I wouldn't like to give it to her, simply because my sister wears it a lot...
Any recommendations?

Thanks in Advance!

My standard reply to such questions:

Make up a "bouquet" of samples for her. Arrange them in a basket or pretty little glass object d'art (floral glass frogs work well), and you'll have a real visual gift. By choosing a variety of scents, you're most likely to locate at least one that will thrill her and become a staple in her stable of scents. She'll have the fun of trying different fragrances over an extended number of days, and you'll avoid the risk of buying a big bottle of something she might not care for. If she loves one more than another, then buy her the bottle for Valentine's Day.

Here's a list of the many places that sell samples:

If she likes Dior Addict you could always go with Boucheron Trouble. I love and wear both and to my simple nose they are slightly reminiscent of each other, yet different enough for you not to associate with your sister . If I think of anything else I'll add it...

Best of luck!

I love Quarry's "standard reply." Some samples your wife may enjoy are:

Dior Hypnotic Poison
Chanel Allure
Patou Sira des Indes (I want to try this one as well!)
La Maison de la Vanille line - esp. Vanille Noire du Mexique
Frédéric Malle L'eau d'hiver
Lea St. Barth
L'Artisan Dzing!
Rochas Tocade
Ungaro Apparition

Sweet but not cloying and very classy.

YSL Opium is a nice sweet and rich oriental.

If you want something a bit lighter, then Cinema would be a consideration.

Whatever it is DON'T LOSE ANY TIME!! (Have you looked at the calendar?)

If you don't have time to follow Quarry's excellent but -at this point - time-sensitive advice, how about adverts, or computer print-outs of some candidates in a beautifully wrapped glove box. (Do they still make glove boxes?) That Lucky Scents ad for Bahiana from Lightin'Rod is a knockout - you'd want the bottle just for the feathers!!

I love that in bold "Don't Lose Any Time"! I remembered that I was really upset last year with a friend. The present which I was supposed to received was 2 months late. Run to the shop ASAP!

That's the way it arrives; with feathers in appropriate Christmas colors!

Wow! Thanks, folks! But I forgot to tell you I won't buy a niche fragrance in any possible way!!
Bahiana has a beautiful bottle and so, but considering I'm from Bahia I'm quite sure I'll be disappointed with the perfumer's vision of would be a "Bahiana"...
I'm gonna try Boucheron Trouble, seems to be a nice scent!

Lots of men like the scent of Flowerbomb on a woman. Boucheron Trouble is cheaper, though.

I love Quarry's idea of a sample bouquet!

Out of smoke, I think the man has bought his gift already -- five years or so ago back in 2006.
