Youth Dew Smellalikes???

My mother has never loved a scent as much as that of Youth Dew by Estee Lauder and now...

I need a perfume that echoes the notes of Youth Dew..

Pointers please, Christmas is just around the corner!

I would get a sample for her before committing to a full bottle. I adore Youth Dew and found Amber Nude plastic and artificial. It also seemed not to meld with my skin and sat on top of my wrist for the duration of the wearing.

A definite one you need to try.

Dustcakeboy, trust anything my friend Moondeva tells you. The thing to do would be to make up a bouquet of samples based on Moondeva's shopping list and present your mother with the joys of trialing a bunch of scents. There is no better way to narrow the search. When she finds the one or two she loves, you can get her a bottle right away or for a later occasion. If your mother is into floral arrangements, you might present her "bouquet" of sample vials within the holes of a glass floral frog (always some on sale on ebay).

I bet you can get samples for every item mentioned between here on basenotes, from online stores like scentmonkey, and/or from ebay sellers.

DSH Perfumes Jitterbug is like Youth Dew, with a muted berry note at the top. It's a thick chypre/oriental with a the same viscosity of YD.

My conclusion about YDAN is that it is has more tin and leather than the original YD.

Actually...while I'm at it....

I've got a brother, he's 16 and considers fashion to be one of his most pleasurable hobbies. He also subtly informed me not so long ago that he wouldn't mind some cologne.

So now I have to buy for him. All I know is that he'd detest anything sweet and probably wouldn't be too hot on fruitiness either. So if I had to describe him in one word it'd be something, cliched like...'noir'.

Um...any ideas?

I appreciate all the help!

(PS.I know this is in the Womens Fragrance Section but I thought I shouldn't clutter the forum!)

By the way, I'm bidding on Cinnabar for my mother!

The boy is on his way!! I'm thinking Guerlain Vetiver, Gucci Pour Homme, Gucci Rush, Helmut Lang Cuiron? They're not all too extremely dark but certainly have something spicy & woody going on. Good luck and let us know what you got him!
