how did I do with this purchase?

I have been wanting to buy my male friend a frag for his b'day, and after some back and forth, I settled on Gucci Envy for Men.

Top note : Mandarin, Coriander, Pepper, Rosewood Middle note : Rose, Jasmine, Carnation, Sandal Base note : Patchouli, Vetiver, Leather, Vanilla

This seems to be a well-liked frag around here, with some detractors. I was interested in buying him a good quality frag that will work in his wardrobe (he also likes Jo Malone Grapefruit and Penhaligon's Opus 1870). Somehow, Envy seems to me to be sort of the "median" frag between the oriental/musky/spicy Opus and the effervescent and citric JM Grapefruit.

How do you think I did? I will be giving the present this evening.

I smelled Gucci Envy a few months ago and I have to say that I really liked it! I even like Envy for women. My vote: considering the notes and the fragrances he already owns, you did good!

That's a great choice! Looking at the rest of his wardrobe, I'm sure he'll enjoy this. Do let us know what he thought.

Good choice, he'll most likely love it. I bought it a few months back and really liked it but at this point in time I can't stand it, I think it's a vile juice. Anyways, you did good with the purchase.

I personally am a fan of Rush, which is a lot like Malle's Angeliques Sous la Pluie. Although either or both should come out in an intense version. But the Rush bottle looks like it should dispense scotch tape or something, really crappy and cheap looking plastic deal, which might undermine its desireability as a gift purchase.
