If I wanted to take a fresh floral scent e.g White Linen and spice it up for an evening out, what is the best oil to layer it with? I don't want to go all out and create a new fragrance, just experimenting a bit with layering. What one ingredient would you add to a floral to make it more dark and mysterious but retain its femininity? eg. patchouli, sandalwood, musk.. something else?

I got a sample of this one from the Imaginary Authors website. This one is a smokey, woody vanilla fragrance. It kinda reminds me of cocoa, since it is very dry and has a bittersweet smell to it....
