Most Anticipated Release

Well folks, 2007 is nearly here so I think it's about time for this thread. What is your most anticipated fragrance for 2007? Mine is Fleur du Male, simply because I love Le Male and expect nothing less than greatness from FdM.

Edit: I also look forward to seeing what Tom Ford produces.

I couldn't agree more. I'll probably buy both of them blind.

1) Fleur du Male (after all, I love Le Male and Gaultier2, and I have a friend that works for BPI, so it's a mandatory sniff)
2) The new Thierry Mugler (rumored to be called Alien Men)
3) D&G Light Blue Pour Homme (my other friend in the business at P&G can't wait... this might be a big surprise)
4) Narciso Rodriguez for Him

Really? A men's version? I'll have to check that out. I wonder how they're going to change their marketing/counter displays in countries where Light Blue is already marketed as a unisex scent?

Thanks for the heads-up.

Definitely Gucci Pour Homme II

I just hope they don't change it too much ... and just add longevity and sillage.

Yep, I'm with you on these two. I really liked Black Orchid and Gucci PH, so I'm excited to see what comes next.

Should I be interested in Ungaro Apparition Intense? Never smelled the regular one, but Intense sounds good.

I'm still waiting to test Paul Smith Story!

Why does it take so long for some scents to make it all the way out to the Colonies?

Lol. I've been looking all day for the right sort of comparison, but I think you nailed it!

Actually, I was getting ready to offer that perhaps the train that crashed the other day in Kentucky, causing houses to be evacuated and the excess to be burned off to avoid exposure, was perhaps filled with an early shipment of Kouros Intense Extreme.

You may not have to look far: I saw Paul Smith Story at both Nordstrom and Saks at South Coast Plaza when I was in Southern California a few weeks ago. Didn't sniff it, though. I also hear that Neiman Marcus has it, but it's not on their website, nor is it on the Nordstrom or Saks websites.

SAKS had Paul Smith Story before Christmas. It smelled nice but kinda boring to me.

The existing Hypnose for women is awful - a big scoop of that synthetic sugary vanilla ice-cream we used to get before ice-cream makers realised they could go back to using milk and cream.

I have put soooo much hope on these fortcoming releases and REALLY look forward to them! I hope at least one of them has a strong emhasis on patchouly and possibly on leather too. That kind of a scent would most probably be my cup of tea ;-)

At the same I'm prepared to get dissapointed with the new Thierry Mugler, Hypnose for men, Dolce & Gabbana Light Blue pour homme, Gucci pour hommeII and Fleur du Male. They are most probably gonna be fine scents, but "unfortunately" in a too polished and mass-appealing way to truly impress me :-/

i'm just hoping for a mcqueen....
he will have to eventually release a men's fragrance...but who knows when?
i need to smell kingdom...
I'd love to see a McQueen release as well, but I'm not going to hold my breath just yet. As with Helmut Lang Vetiver or some of the others from the "might have been" thread a while back, there is a lot to happen before this one hits the shelves. I read that first and foremost to McQueen right now (and several other gucci group brands) is that he breaks even financially. The heads at Gucci Group gave all the brands a few years to make a profit or they've threatened to sell them off. This was, I believe, one reason we saw a McQueen jeans line this past year, along with the Puma collaboration. Many McQueen die-hards were angered by the more commercial slant of his last few collections, but much of this was because they HAD to become more commercial.

I also heard that Kingdom is to be discontinued; I'm sure that this would cause them all to take their time and consider the men's scent very carefully before sinking millions of $$$ into it, especially if McQ has yet to break even.

IN any case, a men's fragrance would be really interesting. I'd say it would have to be very different from Kingdom, because his menswear is VERY different from his womenswear. It's less combative, less confrontational, and decidely more elegant and 'dandyish.' But, it still has that element of gothic/sexy flare. So, to be honest, I think it would be something along the lines of a more rebellious CN Scent Intense. Something thick, dark, heady, intoxicating.

as a GREAT fan of mcqueen....i noticed his collections to be a bit commercial due to his sales but still has that mcqueen aesthetic...
i noticed some guys having kingdom in their wardrobes...is it a scent that can transpose?

we'll have to wait!

Same here, I can't wait any longer ! The price will be high indeed : 180 euros for a 200ml bottle (which is eventually not more expensive than two 100ml bottles of, say, Vetiver Extraordinaire by Frédéric Malle, but 200ml seems to be the smallest bottle available from what I read.) Another two or three weeks to go !...

I'm interested in many of these mentioned....I'm also interested in the New Armani.....Also the Emporio Red Project.....Lancome's Hypnose Pour Homme.....Diesel's New Scent....And I'm sure that there will be a few nice secrets that are unveiled....I can't wait......Gary

For those of you waiting for Jean Paul Gaultier's Fleur du Male:

It will be available in the US starting March 1st at Bloomingdale's (which will be the exclusive launch partner for two months). Then, it will be available everywhere else (Sephora, Nordstrom, Macy's, etc.) in May.

I've had a sample of D&G Light Blue in my stash for a long time. Tonight I have a few drops on the back of my hands. It's nice...and I'm eager to see what the men's version is going to be like.

Edit: The more the Light Blue dries down, the more it kinda resembles my Harry Potter EDT, lol.
